Fantastic!!
I remember the RC10 being the shit back in the day. I remember one year asking for a Turbo Hopper for Xmas. Those things were sold out everywhere.
Quoted from FatPanda:That looks like a shelf o' fun...
Haha definitely. It went from shelf o’ fun in addition to closet o’ joy and garage o’ planes. No one can ever accuse of me of not fully committing to my hobbies. Haha

I just bought a Monster Beetle for old time sake.
Quoted from SR230CC:Here is my Clod. I have Aluminum Wheels on order to finish it up. Only stock parts will be one plastic gear in each transmission.
I still drive this one. Lots of fun in the snow.

Nice how is the body?

the gold tub rc10 was the car to have in the late 80's. still got mine too.
Not my video, but one of the faster setups. I think the top guy is about to hit 500mph with a twin turbine setup which is just insane. I think they also switch over to flying with goggles at a certain point because it gets so far away so fast. Makes my 200mph seem slow!
500mph??? More like 500kmh or 300mph. Still fast. No idea how you control that with little joysticks.
Utt oh... did we just open Pandora's box with plane and heli's too lol.
Here is a shot of my with my Ziroli P-40 with Sachs 4.2 engine. Flying weight is about 36-37 pounds. I flew her for several years at the Warbirds over Delaware and Ohio events. Then moved heavily into heli's and started selling off most of my fixed wing aircrafts.

Thanks!! They were fun to make.
Quoted from FatPanda:Should we open this up to drones/quadcopters too? Any recommendations that won't break the bank?
It's far too cold where you live, so you should just get one of those mini quads and torment the animals in the house.

Negative temps never stopped anyone from doing anything here I think it might be fun to fly it downtown and get some views there.

Done ! Love it!
This thread has got me looking at Kyosho Infernos on eBay. I wanted one of those so bad when I was a kid!

Do it ! You only live once!!
Quoted from orangegsx:Threw together a slash for oval racing. Won a heat my first time out! Never raced on dirt before and did not expect oval to be this much fun.

Dirt Oval racing is very under rated. I had a lot of fun as a kid bashing RC-10s around the oval. Its nice to see it has not died out.

I have done some carpet, but this seems like a way more level playing field. Pretty close racing.
I've done all sorts of racing but truly found a love in 1/5 scale 2-stroke gas short cross truck racing, now that's a blast.
Fun night last night. Started first and lead every lap. This is my first year doing this so it was neat to start in front and not have any cars to ram into
To late to resurrect this thread?
With the pin market crazy I figured I'd get some rc stuff going. Most of its been sittong for 4 years. Tomorrow's project is my HPI baja 5t.
I have a few rare items in my collection that I can share pics if anyone is interested. My 2 favorite are an MRC thunder king and a Kyosho USA-1 with sassy chassis carbon fiber extended chassis and aluminum arms.
20220430_213722 (resized).jpgReading this thread makes me want to get my Team Associated RC18T going again. Does anyone know where I can get this:
Team Associated 21096 18T Stub Axle Pins
My son when he was 6 or 7 lost one of these pins and I have never been able to run my RC18T since. It's just been sitting in the box for years and sometimes I get an itch to get it going again and then remember this part is missing that holds the wheel on. I've searched online and only one website has it in Australia with $30 shipping.

I should have some of these, let me check tonight after work.
Quoted from DiabloRush:Been flying RC since the early 80s.[quoted image]
I picked up a foamy brushless airplane 48" wingspan a few years ago. First flight it found trees, I didn't know foam and wood were magnets. I have a few helis I'm ok at hovering but I have yet to get the courage to actually fly.

Awesome! Those things can take a beating!
Quoted from loneranger:I believe this is the pin you need. I've only found one so far, I have a bunch of thicker 2mm ones but those are too big.
[quoted image]
Last year I got a box of random sizes of pins and nuts from Amazon hoping one would work. They were all too big. I would hang on to that if you think you'll need it.

Got this one running, fresh fuel, new rx pack (it's a 5 cell nimh hump pack I wanted to run lipo but i didn't have one to fit). Literally all it needed was a new air filter fortunately I had one. Picture shows old yellow one and new white with blue oil.
1651784357439_9668563804_4f8684fe_v1 (resized).jpgFiring up all my rc stuff still. Everything has Spektrum receivers. I ordered a DX5 rugged and the TouchPad scroll is garbage. I was futaba guy 15 years ago but the cost to swap all rx for surface to futaba would be ridiculously expensive. I would like 5 channels for some of my oddball rcs like Blizzard, usa1 and rock crawlers. Looking for some insight, DX5c DX5pro or futaba 7 series.
I’m a child of the 80s, and one of the things I got into as a teenager was RC car racing. I did it off and on for until the early 2000s when I got married and life happened, and stopped racing and sold my gear.
About a year ago we moved to a town that has an indoor clay off-road track that hosts 1/10 scale races twice a week. I started racing again in December of last year and am currently fielding a TLR 22-5 in two wheel sportsman 17.5 stock, and an associated B74.2 in 4 wheel sportsman 13.5 stock.
Over the weekend my track hosted the regional Jimmy Babcock Racing League series and for the first time in 20 years I participated in a big race. There were close to 200 entries running in 24 heats. I ran 2 wheel Rookie class and finished 7th out of 16 in the field. It overall was a fun Saturday of racing.

That looks like great fun. I raced mostly electric dirt oval from 1989 until 1994. Then again around 2004 to 2006 with a gas truck.
I raced in the Roar 10th scale Dirt Oval Nationals in Bedford Texas in May 1990. There were people there from all over the world.
The big sponsored pro drivers were there. It was great fun.
My son found my R/C stuff and is really excited about it. I have a TA B3 kit I built in the 90s, and a T3 I bought as a roller. On my most recent re-entry into the hobby I also grabbed some Losi Micros. Seeing all of my gear referred to as 'vintage' in my research was a little jarring.
Since my son is interested, I'm pretty ready to hop back into it. I got one of the micros going, and I just put the other back together. The frustrating thing about those the amount of AA batteries needed (8 for the transmitter, 8 for the charging block). I ordered a couple nimh batteries to throw into my B3/T3, and a 2.4ghz transmitter since I only had one radio.
I checked for local tracks, and there's not too much within a reasonable distance any longer. That makes me think that another buggy probably doesn't make sense. I have a skate park in the community and lots of construction sites. I'm leaning pretty heavily towards an MT10 to toss around. I'm also pretty set on getting some mini-zs. They seem pretty popular, and getting the cars out of the garage and some foam down for some winter racing seems like fun.
I think this is going to be expensive..

Welcome back to the hobby. I seem to go in spurts 1 year on 2 years off. Yet I still find myself buying new kits to build in my down time. I have almost completely ditched the NIMH and NICD packs in favor of lipo. Spektrum has some new kits with charger and smart batteries that will discharge them self after sitting for a set periord of time.
Currently I have a 51" gas boat on the bench waiting to rebuild the carb and upgrade electronica, its only been there for 4 months.
