This game seems like great value. My three games, T2, FT, and Diner are all shallow. I need something deeper to balance it out. I am wondering if I should sell off or try to trade one of my games to get it. I love going on adventures in games and this game seems the most affordable too. LOTR is still way out there, but man I love that game.

#2 9 years ago

Very possible....sell one and add some cash, or do a 2 for 1 trade. However it's best to sell your game and then buy, trading makes it complicated.

#3 9 years ago

Looks like I'll have to keep my eyes open for a reasonably priced one.

#4 9 years ago

They aren't easy to find, and even harder in good shape. Expect to pay around 3000-3500.

It is a fun game, pretty difficult and lots to do. Not quite the flow of LOTR, but worth the price.

#5 9 years ago

I agree with "hard to find in good shape"!!! There is one on route near me and I'm positive the op would sell but damn is it beat to hell.

And for some reason this chute always seems to be malfunctioning when I play them??

One of the best games ever !

I think they can be had for sub 3K..you just have to be patient.

Well I certainly have more patience now that I have house stuff to pay for too. Hopefully one pops up!

#11 9 years ago

I am wishing you luck on your hunt. I also want that game but it will take awhile till I have my Earthshsker project finished. May even have to decide between this and the new Lawlor game by the time I get finished rehabbing my ES!

#12 9 years ago

I just got one great shape. Led just shopped. I got for 3,000 .

Definitely sub-$3K from what I have seen. To be $3K or above, I think it would have to be absolutely pristine. Perhaps that will change if the game gains more popularity among players (it seems there have been a lot of threads about it recently, so maybe interest is in fact growing).

#14 9 years ago

RBION has great rules. Very deep.

I'm already here in PA, patiently waiting for one. Been looking for a couple months. OP, you can have the 2nd one that comes up.

Also, willing to trade my pimped out High Roller Casino + Cash for one. Excellent Playfield, Lollipop Rails, Lighted Flippers, Power tap for adding multiple powered mods, Speaker Lights, latest Directors Cut software. Also, Mirror Blades are on the way.

Great game, never understood any relation to TZ though

Quoted from Blake:

The switch inside the scoop has been the one recurring "issue" with my RBION. Simple fix, just seems to happen off & on.

I think just because they are both TV shows about weird stuff theme. All kinds of crazy unrelated "things" to do.

#18 9 years ago

Both Pat Lawlor games, too.

Hey well we could always play each others games if one of us gets one! That or fight to the death.

#22 9 years ago

Sold one last year. Wish I had it back. Lots of stuff to do.

#23 9 years ago

I am asking $6k for mine here on AUS as it is plumb. The price is set high as I don't want to sell!

#24 9 years ago

Ripleys is a solid game, goofy theme but a funky layout and deep code. Ive played maybe ~15~ games on this title, Ill give it a big thumbs up.

#25 9 years ago

Took me about 10/12 months to find a really nice one within 200 miles. ( And I had to shop it out. ) Just the very slightest bit of wear by the left side flipper button. Seller said it was HUO and he was second owner but had no proof. Paid almost 3k but the rest of the game was perfect.

One of the most difficult games I have ever played. I personally love the theme and humor. DO NOT LED this game as you will ruin the lighting.

Its a keeper.

I have a Ripley’s on location in Metro Detroit and this seems to be the number one problem I have with it. That switch that registers the ball is in the scoop seems to break easily, in particular the leads that the wires solder to break off after a while. I got to the point where I ordered a lot of them and just tape the bag of them to the inside of the coin door. Otherwise it’s been a reliable machine on location and people seem to really enjoy it.

I'll be on that side of the state this weekend, and am looking to play some RBION - whereabouts is this on location?

Yeah, I've had to replace the VUK switch (fork switch) on the vari target twice in 6 months now. Probably ought to order a bag of these.

I disagree, I much prefer the LEDs on the game. It's a pretty dark game to begin with.

#30 9 years ago

I'm late to the RBION party thread, but it is a fantastic game. Keeps my interest in a home environment. Great theme, great challenge, variety of shots and deep code. They don't make them like this anymore. I can't see myself ever selling mine. Along with STTNG, those are my keepers barring something very unforseen.

LEDs looked no diff'rent to me and would have been a waste of monies.

Quoted from TheLaw:

A machine on location around here has LEDs and they look bad for three reasons:

1. Ghosting. The LED is sort of still "on" when it's supposed to be off
2. Flicker. Unacceptable flicker at times. Very rapid flicker (distracting)
3. The color. The lights are a cool blue-white (off white) and they look terrible in a playfield of mostly warm yellows and greens.

A more judicious use of LED might look better.

#33 9 years ago

Ripleys does a lot of slow fading across the playfield in the inserts. Leds are either on or off they cant do different brightness. For the GI they would be fine but IMO putting them in the inserts on this game would look like ass.

And yes I LED out most all my games.

#34 9 years ago

RBION is a fantastic game, looks great with LEDs and also the BriteCaps sold by pinball life are a good addition.

LEDs work great for GI in this game. It's a really dark game to begin with, so putting some super bright clear-domed style bulbs help brighten things up a lot.

I can concur though that LEDs for the inserts is a bad idea on this game. Even with Herg's OCD LED smoothing board it still strobes like crazy, because of the game intentionally doing so.

Well now there you have two very different opinions.

#37 9 years ago

I have no issue with ghosting or strobing in the inserts. Used The ablaze non ghosting.

#38 9 years ago

Are you also gonna tell me they work great in the inserts for SM. The intensity of brightness is how you tell how far you completed the insert

As for ripleys it has a lot to do with the attract mode. There is no way at present an LED can duplicate the waves and smoothness as a incondecent bulb does

#39 9 years ago
Quoted from Lermods:

I have CT non ghosting and the only ones that ghost are the "special" inserts. You guessed, I am taking those 2 out. Who needs free games lit on free play???

#40 9 years ago

Here is an example of what im talking about. Leds cant fade like that.

#41 9 years ago

If you notice I put green LEDs in the Idol lights. It just dont look right. I will be removing an installing green standard bulbs

#42 9 years ago

First thing I did when I got my Ripley's (even before playing a game) was pull the LEDs. They looked horrible and completely took away from the light show

#43 9 years ago

For me yellow is the hardest color to match well, and this has a lot of yellow. I couldn;t get them to look right in RBION or WH20 and don't use them.

I like the coloring of the idol counter lights. Is that original?

No, they are white normally.

#46 9 years ago

I like mine and only HUO I've ever owned. I don't know if I'll ever get to the hidden continent or Frog Frenzy, but will keep trying.e

#47 9 years ago

Now you got me wanting one again, too!!!

In the last 2-3 weeks at least 3 HUO-quality RBIONs were offered here in Germany/Austria. Absolutly perfect condition and very cheap in relation (max. 2KEUR), no one wants them.
I'm pulling the trigger on one of those right now (pictured below)!

I'm lucky to be an American living in Germany, here the theme "Ripley's" is more or less completely unknown. So people don't understand what it's about and even less understand the strange humor i love so much about this pin.

Thanks to the OP for reminding me what great value this pin is!

#48 9 years ago

Wait !....... Is that a Crystal Skull on the right near the top ?

#49 9 years ago

Actually it's just a cracked scull with a LED inside as far as the descirption goes. It's the only mod he's got in there.

Waiting for feedback from the seller...if i buy it, i'll let you know what it is...

Lucky man.....
