Random question: how many people have order numbers where the bottom 3 digits are NOT evenly divisible by 3? (e.g. 198, 195, 153 are all divisible by 3)
Quoted from wrb1977:Umm...so far we have 5, 7, 25, and 136 in this thread alone. Kind of a strange question...any particular reason you ask?
Not really. I'm just a numbers dork, and it happened to catch my eye that an unusually high percentage of the (right digits of) order numbers are divisible by 3... by a quick skim of this thread, ~76% of them, whereas statistically it should only be ~33%. This could be a statistical anomaly (considering the small sample size), or it could mean that the order numbers don't steadily increase by 1... which would only matter for people who see order number 100XXX and believe that means XXX games have been ordered. Of course Deeproot doesn't owe anyone an explanation of what their order numbers mean, if they mean anything at all.
Quoted from drfrightner:Does anyone know the details about Robert Muller promising to pay back coin taker $107,000 for cash given to Papa for this very game and getting screwed.
Just knowing how quickly incorrect information can spread on the internet, I'd urge you to be cautious when talking about "papa". Presumably you're referring to John Popadiuk... but please don't confuse people by referencing "PAPA", a renowned tournament organization that (AFAIK) has nothing to do with any of this.
Quoted from wrb1977:Most of those people are doing nothing but hurting the company we are invested in and will only make the path to success harder for deeproot than they have already made it for themselves.
Serious question: how would it hurt the company to share facts (let’s posit that the monthly updates are indeed factual)? It can’t hurt sales, because Deeproot literally isn’t selling anything at this time. And you know this hobby... if they eventually release RAZA and everyone says it’s amazing, and a few months later release Food Truck that everyone says is awesome... it’ll sell. People may love the drama but they pay for games.
Nor can you really hide the delays... everyone will see when the first unboxing videos come out, whenever that is.
So I’d think that progress updates, even if they’re not as positive as one might like, are still better publicity than “no one has games and there’s radio silence, guess the company went under”.
Quoted from Yelobird:Raza (for me as not a historian) was announced end of December for market so under six months on my clock.
Hmmm. Interesting mathematics. According to TWIP <https://www.thisweekinpinball.com/deeproot-pinball-launches-opens-orders-and-interviews-led-zeppelin-teasers-jurassic-park-giveaway-new-p3-game-rick-and-morty-code-twip-12-7-20/>:
>> According to the deeproot website, they will be accepting orders for RAZA “from December 8, 2020 at 10am Central US Time
>> to 3pm Central US Time on December 30, 2020”.
So from the time orders closed:
January 31 = 1 month
February 28 = 2 months
March 31 = 3 months
April 30 = 4 months
May 31 = 5 months
June 30 = 6 months
July 15 = 6.5 months
I wish only the best for my friends who are employed by Deeproot, and for customers who ordered games, but let's not go Fake News with the facts.
I even had people privately attack me back during the order window for pointing out that the order numbers were jumping by 3. Not like it was a big deal either way, businesses can do order numbers any way they want, I was just observing that maybe, just maybe, there were fewer orders than people thought. Based on some of the responses I got, you would’ve thought I insulted everyone’s mother. I was shocked at the cultism.
I believe this thread has officially jumped the shark when posters are discussing whether they’ve received a totally different game from a totally different company.
Quoted from iceman44:What else is there?
There is nothing else. That is exactly my point in saying that this thread has jumped the shark.
If you wanna talk about American Pinball #4, or Alien, or Cactus Canyon, or Halloween, or Elwin's next game, or whatever, there are threads for that.
In this thread, seems like there's nothing else to discuss other than advising pre-order folks to claim refunds from their credit card companies. And feeling terrible for the retirees who have lost huge chunks of their retirement savings.
I am coming up with new things. Things that will actually be playable pinball games that get delivered to customers. That's my job.
But I'd rather discuss those things on appropriate threads.
Just to be clear, I am not at all happy that deeproot customers are not getting their games. The whole situation with this company is bad for our small industry overall, and bad for deeproot customers, and REALLY REALLY BAD for deeproot "575" investors.
I'm also not happy that a bunch of good work of David Thiel, and Barry Oursler, and Steve Bowden, and many other good employees, is likely lost forever.
