Quoted from Aurich:o more like an original game set in the Walk Dead universe
Considering there is a second TV show coming in 2015 set in the TWD universe, with a whole different group, this will make the pin relevant for years to come.

Thanks for the info. What exactly did the building do? Hit it a bunch of times to open the door and then hit the zombie head a bunch of times, or something else?
Quoted from sammiesguys:The characters make the show, not the zombies.
Yes, but this is a pinball game. I can't think anyone would really want a "Carl get in the house" mode .

No. But a "Carl (or any character), don't get eaten by the zombies!" mode would be nice.
Quoted from PinballManiac40:HighProtein, is this your machine? You stated you got to play a Walking Dead. I don't see it in your collection list.
Not mine, I'm in IL this week
Honestly, I'm glad to hear they are keeping it mostly a generic zombie theme. I like the show and all, but there's nothing timeless about the characters in the group. The concept of 'walking dead' (zombies) in this vein has been popular for almost 50 years. There have been countless re-imaginings of the zombie scenario in popular media with many different 'survivors' and groups and there will likely be many more in the future. When this show becomes a distant memory, the zombie genre will live on and this game could still feel relevant.

I see your point. I was just under the impression that if you're going to secure the rights to the name and use the title, the characters of the show would at least play a role.
Edit: I guess the name just helps give them something to sell too.
IMO they should be using voice actors from the show given AMC is so visible.
Waiting for gameplay video before making a decision. I'm a fan of the show, so this is definitely on my radar.

I don't think the characters are totally MIA, they're just not using voice clips from the show for them. In Star Trek you basically play Captain Kirk, but maybe in this one you're supposed to just be a survivor navigating the world.
I would wait until you play it before worrying about it overmuch, just trying to share what info I have and set the expectations. I think it's pretty clear from the art and hiring of Gregory Nicotero that Stern gets it on this one.

I'm not that worried, it just seems different than what I figured. There is still plenty left to come out anyway. Thanks for the info!
Thanks for the review. I'd love to know what the magnet does...and what the head inside to the prison does!
Just looking down the spec sheets and at photos, the LE and Pro are really different games...right down to spinners. They will undoubtedly play different. Kind of a shame if you ask me
Oh, when you hit the ramps does it return to same side flipper or the other side?
I know the matrix sheet said opposite, but I'm looking for confirmation since the would have to cross behind the backboard.
Quoted from zucot:Thanks for the info. What exactly did the building do? Hit it a bunch of times to open the door and then hit the zombie head a bunch of times, or something else?
I'm guessing the zombie head inside is on a slide, like Bart on TSPP. I'm also going on record as to the metal lip on the wellwalker. It's the switch actuator. If you don't hit the metal part, like from the flipper or a good rebound off something it won't register as a hit.
Quoted from DCfoodfreak:My guess is its not his unless his wife has harsh rules about video taping in the home ; )
No, she's cool with video taping! Oops!! 8-O
Seriously though, game is based in TWD universe, you, as the player have to survive in it. So even when the show progresses way past season 5, pin will still be timeless. This is what stern was shooting for. Not a TV show rehash, but a zombie survival adventure horror story.
Quoted from TigerLaw:All I want to know is if Merle is doing the call outs? Custom voice from Merle would be awesome.
No. That would date the game since Merle is not in the show any longer( no spoilers here!).
Pinball Browser add any character you like and zombie sound effects.
This game has awesome potential, I like what I saw and what I'm hearing.
Quoted from underlord:No. That would date the game since Merle is not in the show any longer( no spoilers here!).
Heck no it wouldn't. That dude's voice is awesome. Have him do the general pinball specific call outs and make general zombie jokes.
Quoted from underlord:No. That would date the game since Merle is not in the show any longer( no spoilers here!).
The rate people die on that show.............
Quoted from dantebean:The rate people die on that show.............
Is still less than on Grey's Anatomy.
Quoted from HighProtein:Bare in mind I don't watch the show or many zombie movies.
OK, so we have to imagine the nudity?
Game sounds pretty cool. I like games with challenging shots and some ball-toy interactions!
I'm really looking forward to the different modes. Different multiball modes and whether there is a wizard mode. Awesome!!
All of the actors and actresses have distinct voices and some very memorable lines. Seems a shame to not have Hershel's voice in the game at all.
Music is a rockin'
I just watched an episode with...some cool music
Ted Nugent...Turn it Up
Motörhead....Fast and Loose
I hope it some of that!
Quoted from cleland:Did the music sound anything close to this?

THIS IS AWESOME.
I am really bummed they won't have clips/voices from the show, there are endless awesome ones they could use. Big negative to me.
Quoted from bemmett:I am really bummed they won't have clips/voices from the show, there are endless awesome ones they could use. Big negative to me.
Massive bummer. That is making me reconsider it. Why the heck license the theme from AMC if you are not going to use the artifacts they have. I don't care if they're dead on the show, I'd want to hear Xxxxx and Xxxx in the game (see that, no spoilers if you are just starting to watch the show). If this is just a generic zombie theme, pass.
Eh, as a Star Trek owner I can tell you that relying on clips from the source isn't always all it's cracked up to be. I suggest everyone relax until you've had a chance to hear it.

If only true...
Quoted from MikeS:The shot geometry is interesting on this game and I look forward to playing it. I can't think of another game where the right ramp is essentially where the right orbit typically is and returns to the left flipper (repeatable). Since you have to hit it more towards the tip of the flipper wouldn't this result in less power which could make for a difficult shot to power it up a fairly steep/long ramp? I like that they changed it up. The skillshot also looks fun/interesting to me. I also can't think of another game where neither orbit shot leads to the pops? Looks like you either have to plunge for the pops or hit that inner orbit.
Hook is like that, but reversed with it being the left ramp.
Quoted from LesManley:Hook is like that, but reversed with it being the left ramp.
Aww yes. It's been a while since I've played a Hook but it does indeed have a repeatable orbit ramp on the left side. Let's just hope for everyone's sake that the sound package is better than Hook on TWD
Quoted from ezeltmann:George Gomez says TWD is a winner, what else do we need to know?
May the code be with us.
Where did you see this?
This would be a serious purchase consideration for me, if Stern would do a premium version. LE is more than I want to spend and I don't care for stripped down versions. Premiums just hit that sweet spot for me. I like what I'm seeing and hearing about this game though.
Quoted from ezeltmann:George Gomez says TWD is a winner, what else do we need to know?

Do you mean Sterns head of product development said TWD is a winner
Quoted from wcbrandes:Do you mean Sterns head of product development said TWD is a winner
That's like asking Gary Stern what his favorite machine is...."My favorite game is (insert newest production game)"
Quoted from wcbrandes:Do you mean Sterns head of product development said TWD is a winner
lol!!!
Quoted from nodyeliab:Does anyone know if this is using original dots or clips, like SM and TRON?
Stern went back to original dots years ago…expect it to be original, not clips.
Quoted from wcbrandes:Do you mean Sterns head of product development said TWD is a winner
I think he was talking about Mustang
Quoted from Aurich:Eh, as a Star Trek owner I can tell you that relying on clips from the source isn't always all it's cracked up to be. I suggest everyone relax until you've had a chance to hear it.
I'm not basing my whole judgment on it BUT Star Trek had roughly 3-4 hours of movie to take speech from between the 2 movies. The Walking Dead has 4 seasons and about 30-40 hours to take it from. So there is a lot more selection available.
It already upsets me a ton, the show is amazing, the acting is amazing and any fan of the show would love it in there. SOOOO many cool quotes!
