Removing the old mylar from the lower PF. I’m using the Freeze Spray method and learned that the best results are spraying on the top and underneath the mylar. The PF looks really nice. I did have an insert decal come up, but no paint removal.

I look forward to spending hours removing the mylar glue.

Here is another shot showing how shiny the PF is after mylar removal and the mylar itself. Pretty minimal lift and honestly, the most lift was where I started and was impatient.

Predator retheme is such a great idea. Gotta make some Predator sniper target decals. The helicopter sound is similar to the predators rattle.

Looking good. I've had mixed results with freeze spray, but that looks nice.

You going to put a coin battery holder on the game? I just used Super Caps on Raven and Genesis and they seem to work fine. Lets you skip the blocking diode and it should last as long as the board.

I bought a 4AA battery holder at Micro Center for $2.50. I just did that with a blocking diode.

This was my first Freeze Spray. You got to let the spray sit for a sec or two before pulling. It’s as if the mylar is popping off the glue. I also learned it’s about spraying both top and underneath.
I’m super pleased as it looks so much better.

Next step is removing the PF and putting it on my rotisserie

I left the GooGone on the PF overnight underneath plastic wrap then used flour, plastic razor and fingers.
Pretty easy

Not sure it can be cropped to fit as is. Too much stuff doesn't fit. I did a quick (bad) Photo shop on a larger resolution version I found. If you drag the people and explosion up a little it fits better.

Again, this is poorly done, like the LOTR translite; it's just a mockup to see composition. I am no PhotoShop master.

With a little work on the fire area, it might be viable. It already is better than most alt translites for Raven. Maybe I'll clean it up further and send it off to the printer.

I was wondering if one of you Raven owners could shoot some hi def gameplay? There is not much video of this game available and 99% of it is low quality. It would be nice if people could see that this game is much better than they think it is.

As soon as I get this thing put back together, I’ll take a video. I don’t think many people know of the great artwork on this PF. The entire Playfield is covered with art.

Cleaned up the photo-shopping a little. The fire doesn't look as abrupt and I cleaned up the mask on the title. I loaded the 25x20 inch version to Google drive. I'll send you the link via PM.

Now you need some Predator pop caps and side stencils. You already put predator stickers on the stand-up targets. A few more tweaks and you will have a complete re-theme.

I think the guy that made the goonies game used a special sound add-on that allowed custom callouts. This movie had some great quotes; "If it bleeds, we can kill it!", "I ain't got time to bleed", "GET TO DA CHOPPA", "There's something out there waiting for us, and it ain't no man. We're all gonna die."

How is your custom wire form? Does it play well?

Bought a Raven last weekend...just started shopping it out with new yellow switch targets and also put green Titan rubbers on it to be an Ahole. I may try being an even bigger ahole this spring and auto clear it for practice

Bridge rectifier on my Raven just shorted out and pumped 25 volts through the entire 6 volt circuit. Blew every lamp. Shit.

This is a great idea. I bought a NOS playfield to clear and install, because it is a worthy task.

OK, my Raven works 99%. The feature sounds will come on (machine gun, targets sound) and then disappear during a game. The music and Helicopter sounds remain.

So what do y'all think? Cold Solder joint? Connector?
The gound mods to the transformer housing have been done, but no other ground mods.

Sometimes I have to toggle the game off and on to get her to boot up correctly.

So first is to check 5V supply, then add a light film of solder to the connector fingers on the board.

Otherwise, she plays great!

How many snipers should be up at start of game? If any.

What coil do I need for right flipper to make ramp?

Where can I get new drops? Or stickers for the drops at least?

0 snipers to start you have to hit the yellow targets to get them to pop up. Make sure the flipper assem is in good shape ie: rebuilt. The ramp shot is next to impossible without the flipper in good shape. PBR has the drop targets and I believe they still have the decals.

I’m getting a random number of snipers up to start a game. Should I not worry about it or is there an easy fix?

The snipers pop up on mine when I turn it on. I'm not sure if all of them do or if they reset starting a game. I'll check tonight, but I wouldn't worry about it.

Tested a few games, I’m consistently getting 3 snipers up to start and the bottom right one will always be down. Any easy fix or just deal with it?

Also still curious if anyone knows what coil I need in right flipper? I can’t make ramp from cradle but did make once on the fly.

Marco has a drop target set and pop bumper caps. I might order them just to have back ups. Pinitech for a piggy deux board. I don't have any reset issues but it can't hurt. Threw one in my gold wings and it fixed the reset issue like a charm. Pinitech has a nvram for the 80b's as well.

Not sure if I need new flipper coils yet or which ones though.

Also thinking on removing mylar, part has been cut off in front of one sniper already so might go for it, never done it before though.

Your sniper targets shouldn't be up when you start a game.

Ok but how do I get them to go down to start?

I checked mine last night. I pulled the glass & knocked all of them down. Turning it on, all snipers reset & popped up. I knocked the upper left & lower right snipers down & when I started a game, the upper right dropped. Simulated a game & knocked the remaining one, the lower left down. When it went to the next ball, all snipers remained down. Starting another game didn't cause the snipers to reset. Turning it off & on reset the snipers & when I started a game, none of the snipers dropped, so I think that's random.
I say don't go down the rabbit hole & just play it. You'd probably be diagnosing a problem that isn't there.

They all pop up when pushing start and then all drop before the ball is loaded in the lane. If not doing this they are hanging up,have bad drop coils on them or the transistors driving the drop coils have an issue.

Mine all go down at the beginning of the game too.

Does anybody have insert decal artwork done for this one? Some of my insert decals came up with the mylar, and I am about to embark on making new ones.

Was playing last night and have to revise this. They all pop up at game over or on boot up. Not when pushing start.

I’m getting them all up in attract mode, then when I push start some drop down just as ball kicks out. Looks like a lot of work to remove mechs, my tech looked last night. I’d like them to work proper but I’d hate to mess things up worse.

The pancake shaped coil is what kicks them down. I would start there and see if the coils test good, and then the solenoid drivers for each of the balky coils.

Just to log this in here... I had a problem recently where it would go into the diagnostic mode when I hit the start button, instead of starting the game. Wound up being a bad 6532 RIOT IC.
