You are a loser.
That is all.
My family and friends are aware I have the Raven.
I have not tried to hide it, I even readily admitted it to them to keep everything out in the open.
They want to do an intervention

I saw this on ipdb website about Raven pinball machine:
*******
'Raven' was the first pinball machine from any manufacturer to use a photograph for a backglass or translite. Premier made six more games with a photographic translite.
Designer John Trudeau said this game was his homage to Williams' 1980 'Firepower', the name 'Raven' came from the code word used in the Hollywood movie 'Rambo', and the helicopter used in the backglass was actually a cropduster.
********
Bet you would have never guessed that you were going to learn something today about Raven.
The cabinet artwork and on the sides of the backbox is very uninspiring.
Have a great Memorial Day Weekend all you pinball addicts!
Honestly to me there's only one really horrible thing about the pin and it's the translite. Use a different translite and the game is fine.
The cabinet graphics are kinda "meh" to me but not totally horrible and the playfield is decent enough.
Quoted from Gerry:F you guys
Quoted from fisherdaman:its a gateway pin....
So Gerry, was Raven what got your Premier collection started?

Nope Tx-Sector and Bad Girls....
Over 4 yrs ago and still have both, and will sell neither...
And as I have said before, I have never sold a Gottlieb out of my collection...
OOOppp's I did sell Operation Thunder, and kinda wish I had it back now...
I wont make that mistake again

There must have been a half dozen Gottlieb premiers at Allentown including TX-Sector. Your whitewood was a lot more fun.
Dan
I have made an offering to the Voodoo gods and they have cast a spell of resurrection on this thread.
I should be a member of the Raven club by this Thursday!
Someone in SC offered it to me if I would ship it. So thanks to NAVL, I have a $350 Raven on the way.
I am also not ashamed to admit I am a fan of cheesy 80s paraphernalia.

Thanks Dan
Yeah, I'm in the club too. Bought it as my first (and only) pin last Nov-Dec.
New rubbers, 3 coats of wax on the playfield, replaced some bulbs & now it looks & plays great. My friends & I really like playing it, especially when we're under the influence.
My translite's really faded & cracked so I'd like to replace it. I was going to get my girlfriend to stand in front of some bushes wearing a camo tank top & holding a super soaker, but she said there's no way I'm putting her up there. Maybe I should hold try-outs.

Eh, I would but I'm pretty cheap. I paid $800 for it (didn't do the research) & I'm not sure I want to sink too much into it. I'll keep it running & looking good though!
I was thinking of taking a picture & a wmf (or whatever's best) of "Raven" to the print shop my work's been using for years & have them print it on frosted mylar to see what it looks like. I may do that as a test to see how it turns out. They do auto wraps, so I'm sure they could do a good job. Just don't know how the frosted mylar would look.
Got mine for the cost to ship it.
I can appreciate the cheesiness of the backglass.
Hope I won't have to sink too much into it to get up to 100%
Its a fun game, if dialed in and tweaked, as all pins are...
any pin if it plays like a weak POS will be lame...
Unfortunately, people dont get turned on by the theme, hence they dont spend any time if any keeping Ravens's shppoed properly, so the ones that show up at shows are generaly disappointing...
Play a done up strong one, with snappy pops and spot on flippers, and it is a whole different animal...
Raven albeit ugly, it gets way too much of a bad rap !
Mine shows up tomorrow. Has some grounding issues to correct. I've read all the ground mod stuff so hopefully I can get it squared away quickly. Looking forward to the Sniper mode.
Quoted from jwo825:I was just pointing that out to the friends of mine who we're making fun of my newest acquisition.
Tell your friends to eat a bag of Dicks . LOL
Lol. I know it's just because of their extreme jealousy that they are lashing out at Raven. They'll come around, I have great friends!
Gerry, you certainly seem to be a Gottleib System 80 Guru. I might have to enlist your aid if she proves more problematic than just a grounding issue
Most of the time on a system 80b which Raven is, on a non runner it has been ground problems..that's the best place to start.
Once booted then you will know where you stand

I understand replacing the translite, and the girl looks nice, but that translite is just as cheesy. Just a different kind of cheese.

Oh its still cheesy. it just doesn't have a mullet...

Ha ha. Sorry, but if I'm a POW and a woman is coming to save me, I'm picking the one with the mullet. Every. Damned. Time!
Quoted from Pinfidel:LMAO!!! I saw the thread title and said...WHAT!? Someone came up with a Raven club!? LOL
same thing. pretty funny
