1-10 makes more sense, since many of us already rate them that way to our own standards. You are forgetting several other common flaws. Sun fade-this is a big one on some titles (reds/orange, etc.) and for Gottlieb-tape/felt cushion marks. Also, lifting is not the same as flaking, though still a common defect.
