The one with the cars is "Time Trials" by Southland Engineering which is a sister machine to Southland"s
Speedway which was produced a few months later. It appears that Time Trials (or at least the one that I have),
has a little different rule set than Speedway. The game is a 20 lap race. You need to turn the steering wheels
accurately with the curves on the track then bring them back for the straight aways for the car to travel its
fastest. The more your timing is off with the steering wheels, the slower the car travels. If your dead on with the
wheel, the car never slows up, but for 20 laps, that would probably be an impossible feat. When playing single,
you're racing against the machine, and the machine makes no mistakes so you can pretty much figure you'll
be coming in 2nd..
I went through this machine last Winter and there's a flaw where the track stays 100% energized regardless
what positions the steering wheels are in. All wiring and solder joints look factory so I didn't want to break into
the wiring without schematics. After searching literally World Wide, I could only come up with a Speedway Schematics
which I know Speedway is a little different from what my Time Trials instruction card states. I found like 5
different Time Trials with only one other being in the U.S. at PBHF, and they need a schematic also.
I'd like to see what another Time Trials instruction card reads to see if it's rule set is like mine, or like Speedway's.
I remember last Winter I got to know the functioning of this machine pretty well, and I think there's a good chance
this machine was released with this error. I'm hoping to dig back into it latter this Winter. If anyone may possibly
have any knowledge about Time Trials, of course I have interest in hearing..
Here's another machine that's not seen often. It's relative is both Raceway and Flying Turns, but it's closer to
Raceway. The difference with Champ, if you get so many labs on the same ball, after draining, you "Shoot Again".
BTW- Time Trials is the only machine I have set up that doesn't play 100%. After wrapped and sitting for 4 years,
I didn't want to put it back in storage. I'll eventually get it working the way it was meant to be.. (T)
