Quoted from SkaterVet:

Yes, thanks a ton! Please also describe or post a picture of how you mounted your board on top. Super Rad!!!

I'd guess the truck bolts go through a piece of angle that's then screwed to the top of the backbox.

A side view of the brackets would be useful.

Skateboard Mounting

To mount the skateboard i used a couple of metal bracketes.
The skateboard was directly screwd to a 135° bracket, the holes fits almost perfect.
The two other are simple 90° brackets, i just bended the long brackets a bit til i got the wanted angle.

Very creative. You even grip taped the deck. That bad boy is ready to ride. Thanks!

Question regarding top diverter...

The connection between the upper and lower playfield seems to be missing a piece. Its not in the manual, at least that I can see. Can someone tell me what the piece looks like .. see gap below.

I finaly finished painting two mini skateboard decks and mounted them in my pinbal machine.
The axes overlap the artwork a little, but s#it happens

These cool mods you Radical owners are doing are not helping my patience finding this game.

It's a lot of work painting these skateboards with airbrush. If anyone want the artwork, i can share the images or even the vector file. I think these can easy printed on normal or water slide decails.
The decks are cheap plastic finger boards. But would be much cooler with real wood ones.

I have a radical! For sale or trade or partial trade. I live in Helena,MT. It is in good shape but has not been played in a while so I will need to go through it. I’d like to trade it for a late 70s or early 80s pin like Flash Gordon, Bobby Orr Power Play, Harlem Globetrotters on Tour, Farfalla or something like that + cash. I bought the radical about 6 or 7 years ago from a guy that bought it refurbished from a shop in the twin cities in 1994. Probably routed the first couple years as it’s been drilled for a lock bar. It has some leds and I changed all the rubber and coil sleeves a year or two ago. I’d rather do a deal in person as I have not had great luck shipping machines. I will likely put it on Craigslist locally after I get a chance to go through it this weekend but would rather get it to a pinball person that’s looking for one. It’s not a fixer upper. Thanks Jamie Clark

Might want to put an ad on here and let the roadtrippers bust their hump, I know there’s a lot of guys looking for this game that would love to trip over themselves screaming Radical! While eating fruit by the foot listening to the Ramones

You’re way cool for making those, maybe one day I’ll hit you up for the stencil files or something

That store was most likely the pinball warehouse.

As a skateboarder of over 30 years, this was a grail game for me. I am proud to announce my club membership!

Dear master of ramp reproduction, Freeplay40 ,
I humbly submit a request for ramps for Radical. Sincerely, Radical owners of the world

P.S. If Cliffy is interested and Freeplay40 can to make them, I would gladly ship my fresh and delicious Freeplay40 Radical ramps to Cliffy for ramp protector creation.

Cliffy didn't want to make a time machine cliffy protector, don't think its as easy as sending him a ramp.

He is a busy dude. I would think he bases his decisions on demand. I don't know where Time Machine or Radical land in that. I just wanted to put it out there.

My ramps are good, but I might be interested in a set anyway, especially with a reinforced bowl

I talked to him about this on the phone a week or two ago...almost certainly not happening.

However, I did talk to Starship Fantasy at TPF over the weekend about this and got a much more promising response. They said probably a few years out but I believe they already have the means to do this.

It wouldn't hurt for us to keep a list of people who are interested. I'll start putting it together by going through past posts in this thread. If you're 100% in for new ramps, and haven't already said so in this thread, send me a message.

#376 6 years ago

I am 100% in!

#377 6 years ago

I’m getting a Radical here soon and I told Larry I would help in anyway possible to get reproduction ramps made.

#378 6 years ago

Hey Ryan if you get a lot of interest in ramps from owners let me know. I’ve talked with Larry about these ramps being a good seller for him.

Quoted from patrickvc:

how many are needed to make this a reality?

I think if there was a number, then a few of us may be open to organize a commitment list.

#380 6 years ago

i can check with him and find out

#381 6 years ago

So I'm back. I have to admit, it was hard to come into this thread after I had let my last one slip away. Long story short, I sold it to someone that I didn't know was a flipper in GA for what I thought was decent money, only to see them list it for $4200 on ebay.
Whatever, really, but it did get stranger, as last month that same game of mine was listed on pinside for sale by someone that people seemed to know in CA for $1700. I tried to buy it instantly, but heard nothing and the thread was closed shortly thereafter. Then a guy I know a state over, took this beauty in trade for his High Roller Casino. No wear, plays strong, nice ramps, nice cabinet overall. I couldn't be happier. This game has become so difficult to find, I thought I'd never have a reasonable chance at owning one again. I did a video below, and bust a sweet move at 9:40 for the mega millions

Quoted from lordloss:

Heard it went for 3 k after bidding started?

#384 6 years ago

I have had my Radical for close to 15 years when it was generally under the radar.. Looking at this thread I am really surprised at the number of quality Radical! machines out there in the wild still. Being such a low run machine, being shipped internationally, and +/- 20% destroyed for parts etc. I am still seeing pinheads in the forum pick up quality machines.

About the ramp repro chatter...

I am going to just make up a number of number of Radical! machines in playable / restore-able condition....let's say 1000 (which I think is high).

I don't know what the break even point on making money on a ramp repo but lets say every Radical needs a set of ramps (they don't)... Is 1000 sets of ramps enough to make any money on a repo run?

I need a cross over / bowl ramp but the ramp is HUGE and while I would pay a premium price for one I am not sure it could be made in a way that would be profitable simply because the addressable market is small.

Disclaimer: I know "nearly" nothing about the ramp repo business...

#385 6 years ago

I am under the impression that if someone already has the original molds (sounds like Starship fantasy may?) then they like to make at least 100 and need to sell 40 to break even point.

Here is what I have so far: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1pRwwMSqZ8gEJlVMEIiXhwULgG_8CnBqgREYT0VtinN4/edit?usp=sharing

Some of these people at the top of the list made solid commitments either via PM to me, or on posts in this thread. There are some comments that I should probably follow up with to see how interested they actually are.

I guess if we wanted to go crazy, we could start contacting everyone who owns one. I added all those usernames to the sheet with columns to denote if we've reached out, and if they've responded.

(Also, at least 5 of the people who have already shown interest don't actually have Radical listed in their collection...so the number of people on Pinside who own them is somewhat larger than what's in the spreadsheet).

How many different ramps make up Radical?

#388 6 years ago
Quoted from lordloss:

How many different ramps make up Radial?

Vertical ramp, top left, top right, x ramp, lower right. Did I miss any?

Would it be possible to just make a drop in reinforcement for the bowl itself?

Seems like a solid list! If Starship needs hard commitments then he should just let us know a number that we need and we can work towards that.

#390 6 years ago
Quoted from Whysnow:

I don't know. Someone above posted 40...might be tough to get there.

I'll ask...maybe Larry's response will illuminate if it's worth reaching out individually to all the owners.

Quoted from lordloss:

How many different ramps make up Radical?

5 separate pieces on mine. I suppose maybe not everyone needs every ramp. I really only need 3, but I'd do all 5 if that was the difference between this happening or not.

I suppose it's not that straightforward with this game.

#391 6 years ago

I suspect most people need the big ramp with the "bowl" and lower left ramp for sure.

#392 6 years ago
Quoted from Whysnow:

Itis long gone.
Heard it went for 3 k after bidding started?

Buddy of mine was the first to respond. He spoke to the seller who already had an offer of 2500 before they spoke on the phone. Seller has said that a deal is a deal and unless something changes he will be getting it this weekend. The bidding war crap just goes to show how awful people in this hobby are.

Anyone looking to buy a Radical!, be sure to read this warning story I posted a while back regarding my experience. Luckily, I eventually found a great one.

Quoted from Clytor:

The it's in the manual (pages 2-32 and 2-33/86 and 87 of the pdf). I posted a few pages back querying the list given in the manual, specifically the rubber at the bottom of the top left ramp as that seems over sized.

You could try searching of rubber and sleeve in the parts list on ipdb... Should be close:
715 ...4 03-7357 sleeve-ball shooter 1
721 ...4 23-6327 ball shooter tip-rubber 1
824 ..3 RM-27-08 slit hose sleeve 1 1/4 24

1575 ...4 23-6577 rubber bumper plug 5/8 2

Thanks ajfclark You're correct. Manual has it, #39, as a 1 1/2". It's a 3/4" on my game. I don't know how I missed the rubbers when I looked through manual, the first time. :p
