Does anyone have any good custom cards for this one? Love my machine and I think it would be set off with some nice info cards.
Quoted from ChrisS:Does anyone have any good custom cards for this one? Love my machine and I think it would be set off with some nice info cards.
I do. I'll have to get them from my Walgreens account, but once I do I'll post them here....
Also, they're sized to print on 4x6 prints (like at Walgreens). Just cut the white strip off the bottom of the print, and install in the machine.
Would love to join this club if anyone ever is looking to sell or trade. Please keep me in mind.
I used to be a big skater back in the day.
This will be my next pin purchase or bust! I am saving my coins and scouring CL 24/7 until this happens.
Great cards tamoore,I think mine has the original ones you modified.Mine is "player" quality too,but better than no game at all!Awesome game layout, flows really well and got to love the cheesey 90's call-outs.What other pinball says"bummer"?
In tha club. I'm a radical! Fanatic, probably my favorite game. Just hits all the right notes.
Anyone added in the VUK in the back left? I'd really like to know how it's wired up
How often are the ramps broken on this? I have a line on an unshopped radical.
Machine plays albeit poorly. Translite is in pretty good shape, cab has some fade. Machine has a gnarly lock down bar (large, 3 bolts through coin door, unsure of bolt size through cab). Playfield had some wear from shooter lane, but for a system 11 looked pretty decent. Big thing is all the ramps have breaks. A couple are missing small pieces. Parts on this seem to be unobtainable so is it something to pass on or live with?
ramps are not often broken and definately not obtainable.
If you decide to pass then, I am your huckleberry.

I've seen your ad for it so not sure this is an unbiased opinion
Quoted from dung:I've seen your ad for it so not sure this is an unbiased opinion
Actually from what I have seen in my hunting, broken ramps are not super common. Surprsingly many have pretty nice ramps.
I personally am not real picky on this title and will take whatever so long as complete and priced fairly based on condition.
One will come up for me eventually.
Usually the tail slider bowl is blown out, mine looks good, but I have a few hairline cracks in it.
I'd really like to find a used nice playfield I can potentially clear coat, and pass my playfield on to someone who needs a nice one
Currently obsessed with this game. HOLY SHIT. I never knew!
It is my fantasy to get one of these, get it up and running nicely, and set it up in the local skate shop next to our skate park. Would be BEYOND PSYCHED to get hold of one of these beauties.
Joined the club. Got it home, upper right flipper was weak. Had the wrong coil sleeve and was too tight against the playfield. I am thinking the skateboard diverter might be sticking. My understanding is if you shoot the side ramp via the upper right flipper when skate or die is lit it should divert to the left side of the machine?
All in all she has her battle scars, but the breaks in the ramps cause no gameplay issues. Very surprised by this title and curious to see what is like to play shopped.

Great pickup! Your assumptions are correct about the diverter.
Hope it's not too difficult to shop out.
Keep us posted!
Ordering parts and need help identifying a piece.
There is a plastic channel in the backbox. It holds the back-glass in. I cannot find this in the manual, does anyone know the part number or a vendor who carries it?
It's the bottom piece right? I think I saw that in Marcos plastic area once, I have no idea, I'll look around too
Quoted from Chosen_S:It's the bottom piece right? I think I saw that in Marcos plastic area once, I have no idea, I'll look around too
Yes, if you are looking at the cabinet this is what the lift channel slots into.
I would still like to join this club if anyone is interested in selling.
I have a VERY nice Godzilla I would consider trading for an equally nice Radical. Just a thought.
I just did my extended search, I don't see anything, you may need to place a wanted ad to get one from a bally parts machine.

Drive was too far
How common is Diamondplate for these? I just picked up a Bally Radical and was expecting mylar, only to be pleasantly surprised with Diamondplate and no playfield wear. Excuse the dust, haven't had time to clean the entire playfield and wax it yet.
And how did this game not see higher production numbers?? It's totally radical
Don't know, have you looked to see how much of the proto stuff is on yours? My understanding is that the early games are diamond plated and can have the cutout for the subway/vuk. Later ones lose the subway hole, but still retain the vuk hole.
I have a second radical coming next week that I am guessing is early. It has the proto ramp, dp pf with the cutouts, and wiring for the extra sling and vuk. Going to do my research about converting it. Mostly need to figure out if I can build a replcia of the subway.
I used a piece of an old Funhouse Steps ramp for the subway. The VUK with mount was harder to source. I have an extra NOS VUK assembly from IPB. But the mount is game specific. I used one from an ES. That flasher next to the VUK mount, I moved that to a cut-out behind the backboard. It was mounted near the Snake Run hole and I was trying different locations for it. If anyone has a true proto I'd like to know the correct spot for it.
Can the upper playfield sling kicker be installed and run using the proto-ROMs? No, not in my experience. IIRC, the kicker will fire. However, recognition of the Snake Run switch closure was a problem. There may be some difference in the code for that switch between the ROMs. I didn't spend a lot of time on it as the goal was to add the ball popper. A saucer with kicker may be an alternative in the Snake Run hole using the proto-ROMs for those who cannot install the VUK and want the 3rd sling kicker.

Good call, I hadn't even considered that it may be a proto or earlier run. I do see the hole behind the snake run switch, and the big hole on the back left side. I'll check for any extra wiring when I get to the LED conversion and flipper rebuilds. Totally stoked though. Coolest pin ever for those who love skating and the 80's. Shred the gnar

Are the boards under the pf red? specifically the large one near the flippers? The guy I am getting my second radical from thought his was. I am guessing early production due to the green light board.
Congrats on getting a mint pf. My new one will have chipped inserts. Want to get it restored, but kruzman is busy and knowing me I will blow my funds on other games when he is free lol
Quoted from dung:Might ask captain neo. I believe he published the prot pics on ipb and might know more.
pics of the proto show a flasher light board in this position. I like the effect through the plastic mounted there and the wires reached. It also draws attention to a shot into the Snake Run hole. See if your backboard is open behind the plastic. I've seen examples that don't even have the plastic there.
IF ? you completely strip your play field. I would appreciate and also pay you $ for a good quality scan.
Both my play field have lost way too much art and I can see this as being the only way forward.
I am sure others would also chip in $ for you to do this also.
I have a non proto , I installed the VUK and the third kicker, it can be done if you get the parts. The 3rd kicker needs to be wired directly to the mpu, it does not score, but adds added action, it only fires at about 20%, but that's all it needs.
The VUK is worth adding back in, it really makes the snake run shot rewarding

Correct, I would love to have a scan as well
Edit: correction: I would love to have a diamond plate or clearcoated pf, or a nice pf with no wear that I can cc myself, a very nice price paid

Lots of little red square boards for single lights, but no bigger red boards.
Finally got a 10 million roll on mega millions today and... dang it 3 seconds late >.< haha

I'm not so worried about adding the third sling kicker back, but would love to put a VUK back in. Any idea where I could find the right parts at? The actual VUK part sounds like something multiple pinball machines would use, but the metal ball guide where it comes out on top would likely be Radical specific. Anything below the playfield like mounts or ball subway, I think I could fabricate.
Quoted from Whysnow:sweet pic!
LMK when you want to bring me #2
Not seeing it happen. You wanted to pay me 1200 for it. Think I am better off shopping it out and listing it for trade.
Quoted from dung:Not seeing it happen. You wanted to pay me 1200 for it. Think I am better off shopping it out and listing it for trade.
More accurately, sight unseen I offered 1200 for it. With the issues you described, no other info or good pics, and you just looking for the quick flip at $1500, my offer of $1200 was not exactly out of line.
I was just joking that you should bring me the second one. I will eventually find a nice example, so not really concerned. As with all things the hunting is part of the fun and I have plenty of ohters on my ISO list to hunt for. I do agree that when you are looking to maximize profit that shopping and getting a game working is always the best plan of action.
If he's selling a Radical for $1,500, either it is very rough, or you should regret not buying it. $1,200 for a Radical is unheard of, unless it's firewood.

it was rough, only had a description, blown out ramps, pf issues, and display issues, and a long drive away.
I dont regret it one bit. If it was local then I would have happily checked it out in person and likely taken it, but 1500 plus shipping for a game with issues, limited description, and known unobtainum parts blown out is not for me (I have enough of those already).
He was picking it up for much cheaper so I was offering him the quick flip where he could turn and burn with a heafty profit and no risk/time. $1200 for a radical is really not that unheard of since he bought it for much less. I know you are very fond of yours but I wont be paying 2500 for one with blown out ramps, pf worn to wood, and other issues. I am happy to pay a fair price for a nice machine, but dont agree with the owners that think a game with major issues is 2500plus.
