Quoted from Slips:

What’s the current going rate for a Quicksilver? I might have the opportunity to buy one but it may be “broken”. What should I pay if everything is there and it’s not in a destroyed state?

Consider anything under $3k a bargain.

I’m dying to know what it went for.

A friend drove from upstate NY to Illinois today for this estate sale and tapped out at $4400.

Plus fees sounds like this game will go north of $6000?

So I’m hearing it actually SOLD for $$4400

So with tax and fees that’s well over $5,000.

That’s a boom for the dead guy!!

How many people were there sniffing around at the game? What kind of shape?

Quoted from Whysnow:

so you have a friend that drove (not flew) all the way from NY to IL and tapped out at dollars shy of the actual sold price.
now that is funny

Yeah I wouldn’t have done it.

Some people just LOVE these old sterns.

Quoted from Slips:

It was a blind bid

They may have done even better with a live auction.

Quicksilver is awesome.

Catacomb is terrible.

Quoted from TigerLaw:

So, I have a Quicksilver, Catacomb, Seawitch, and Dragonfist currently. Dragonfist is as good of a game as the other three classic sterns I have. All are superb examples of classic Sterns. Catacomb is probably my favorite of the four at the moment, but that changes from time to time.
As for Quicksilver prices, they keep going up at the moment. It was a great layout and rule set for its day combined with a cool art and sound package. Given its rarity its not surprising to see where it has gone price wise. I am confident Stern will eventually give the layout the Beatles treatment for some future release, but unlike Seawitch (which had some readily apparent engineering improvements really needed) it is hard to imagine a way to improve the layout for Quicksilver.

I’m not sure how quicksilver is going to play with modern stern flippers. That’s a big issue with these inspired-by designs.

Maybe I’m wrong. But I think you’d want to dial down the flippers a bit to reclaim The classic feel. Or just use original stern mechs.
