Quoted from cottonm4:Vid, I have done a few holes with the T-nut solution. And I am thinking about doing this play field with 100% T-nuts.
The problems are costs and finding correct length.
1) The Data East style 6-32 threaded posts that Steve at PBR sells are only 2 inches long. While they will work they are too short to allow the threaded portion to protrude beyond the surface of the T-nut. My aircraft training demands that the threaded part of the post extend beyond the edge of the T-nut so I know for certain that enough threads are grabbing inside the T-nut. PBR sells these for $1.12 each.
2) Marco does not have the correct size that I can see. Plus what Marco does sell is priced higher than a cat's back.
I'm thinking about buying some threaded rod and making my own.
If anybody knows a source for Data East style threaded posts I'm sure interested.
Why use the threaded posts at all? Couldn’t you just use regular screws and thread them through the bottom of the t-nut? I was going to use this solution on Seawitch because the posts get hammered behind the middle drop target bank. This also solves the problem of finding shanked bolts since they’re tough to find too.
