About to finalize a purchase on a mousin’ around machine with a bad CPU. Can I at least test that the machine fires up with the CPU out of my F-14 tomcat (same CPU, different ROM’s). The original board was repaired many years ago (acid damage) and owner says it died (surprised the damaged/repaired board lasted that long).

I know I will have to go RD or used/repaired CPU...and not looking for long answers...just a heads up.

Yes

Slochar, thanks for the answer. Anything in particular I can expect when I do this?

Again, all help appreciated. I am new to Williams (Bally mostly), but repaired my F-14 via new caps, diodes and proms - so I am learning.

New research tells me that if I swap the U 26 and you 27PROM’s, that machine should actually function with a new board. Could also swap out U21 and 22 sound PROM’s for a complete actual swap. Is this correct?

If you swap the ROMs, it should work.
You can swap a 11a board for an 11b board.

did you get it working? I was going to be buy that one last week, but he would not go down to $1800.

Update. I did get Mousin' Around up and working. Bought a new rotten dog board, but it had NVRAM. After a less than stellar experience with another vendor, bigdaddy sold me a new board - popped it in and it works great. THANKS BD!

Bad motor on the target lift, iffy GI lights, three bad connectors (replaced),repaired a few abused wires under playfield repaired, interconnect board (retouched a bit of solder). A serious playfield clean (complete with plastic flattening, post repair, ramp bleaching and minor fastener repairs), very little touch up (inserts are PERFECT) and wax/rubbers/acorn nuts and chrome washers. Waiting on target motor now (a very interesting teardown, wire broken at winding)...Marco had it in stock.

Game is fast and furious for sure. Minor tweak to volume control coming up (scratchy, inconsistent start up volumes, etc).

1800. It needed some serious attention, easy to point out...he was cool about it.
