I'm trying my hand at restoring a Bally Atlantis as best as I can. It's my first try at really taking a playfield down to it's bare bones. Anyways, when I was detaching the wire harness, I noticed that one of the wire connectors was burned and one of the previous owners must have just disconnected the burned parts and bypassed the connector all together.

I'm wondering if there's a place to get replacement connectors and if there's any threads here that would be helpful for this sort of work?

I tried doing a search through the forums, but I must not be specifying my search parameters well enough because I couldn't find anything.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers!

Great plains electronics for connectors - that's a .156 size. Hopefully the Z connector between the 2 is still ok as I don't think Ed sells those. Yes, all hacks should be reversed.

Gpe is a great source for connectors. Pinball Life also has them and has z connectors on hand

I knew one of the major pintailers sold the Z connector I thought it was marco's which is who I checked first, I'll have to remember that PBL has them for the future.

Thanks for the info!

Please excuse my naivety, but I have a couple follow-up questions on this....

For the connector I'm looking to replace, it appears to be two 7-pin connector and z connector. I noticed that those don't seem to exist on either pinball life, marco, or GPE. However, there is definitely only six wires are connected to this connector. Does this mean that I can use a 6-pin connector and z-connector? Because those are indeed available on the pages specified.

https://www.greatplainselectronics.com/products.asp?cat=81 Ed has them. Scroll down in order, 3 pin, 4, pin, 5 pin, 6 pin, 7 pin, etc.

Worse case scenario you can always use a longer one and cut to size.

Use a 7 pin, the empty spot is the key so you don't plug it in wrong.

Do I need to get the "crimp contacts"? Also, is there a tool I will need to accomplish this task? Sorry for making you spell this out for me... I just don't want to miss anything.

Yes. Like these - https://www.greatplainselectronics.com/products.asp?cat=81 scroll to wire size you need and model. I'd go with the Trifurcon ones. Get lots of extras. Practice at a table with scrap wire. When you are good at it, then move onto doing it in the machine where gymnastics might be involved.

Yes. Ed has a variety of choices and prices. https://www.greatplainselectronics.com/categories.asp?cat=138 For a one time deal, I'd go cheap. If you plan on using in the future, then'd I'd up the budget. Better the tool. Less grief.

Youtube has lots of short how to videos like this. And you can search for more.

You can pay me in the morning.

Grab one of these if you're not sure.

You'll also need a wire stripper if you don't already have one.
