Some dingdong painted the outside of a cab with white latex paint. Judging by the condition of the playfield and no noticeable nics or scrapes on the cab im willing to bet that the original artwork is still under there and in decent shape. Does anyone know of a paint stripper that will only remove the latex but not damage the oil based paint underneath?

For latex paint you can go several routes. I'll list them from least to most aggressive:

1: Water and a Magic eraser.
2: Naptha and a Magic Eraser
3: 91% Isopropryl Alcohol and a Magic Eraser
    4: CitriStrip

Start with the first one and if it doesn't work or is taking way to long, then work your way down the list.

Also, in the Pinball Compendium sticky, there is this:

I actually did not have any luck with that product on my last cab, and will be using my favorite, CitrStrip as per (4) above.

Last time I used it I did a small amounts on the side and left for various times - but I was actually only interested in revealing the original shapes so I could make stencils so wasn't worried about leaving it on too long because eventually I would strip to bare wood.

Citristip is my favorite; does not burn if you accidentally get a bit on you and low odor - but will eventually strip the whole cab! (So yes, still wear gloves and use in good ventilation)

My FlipFlop had been painted, and it all came off with just 91% Isopropryl Alcohol and rags - original paint in good shape underneath. That was very lucky and rather rare! They must have used a cheap paint to repaint it brown and green (!), thank goodness.

I wanted to update this in case anyone ever runs into the same issue. Thanks for the tips hailrazer & 4max. I ended up trying the isopropyl alcohol and it worked like a charm. Using a paper towel i would soak the area and let it seep in/evaporate. After 3 coats of this the paint came right off using a putty knife while leaving the original paint unscathed. Not the best looking cab in the world but theres enough left for me to do a homemade stencil for it.

After a fun summer of play on the game it's time to send it off. I thought I would update this to show what a diamond in the rough can become with a little elbow grease.

    Quoted from dasvis:

I personally like the added detail of the legs having been painted the same color as the cabinet.

    Nice work!
