Quoted from vid1900:Had the box not been opened or damaged, what would have been the recourse had he then found all that destruction 2 days latter?
I think this is the most important question in the entire thread.
If, after signing that the box has been delivered in good condition, I find that the game has been dropped and damaged internally, I'm Shit Out Of Luck ?????
Many of the posts from Gexchange seem to be implying that Hidden Damage is unrecoverable:
Quoted from Gexchange:Once he signs for it clear the bill of lading states hes signing for it undamaged and taking ownership of the item.
Freight Claims are the Worst, and are even worse when its a hidden damage claim like this.
Quoted from Gexchange:Once you sign, with any freight company / freight insurance they only pay 1/3 value of the claim unless the damage is notated on the bill of lading. The line you sign states you have inspected the freight and found it to be in good condition.
Quoted from Gexchange:If For some Reason you decide to pick this up at the terminal if you sign for it undamaged and there is any damage to the machine what so ever there is NOTHING we can do as the freight company will blame the damage on your secondary transport.
I have picked up items at a freight terminal and they DO NOT let you open boxes on the premises.
In fact, they try to make you sign the Bill of Lading before they even get your boxes by saying "Sign here and we'll go get your boxes".
So I ask again, HIDDEN DAMAGES MEANS THE CUSTOMER IS OUT OF LUCK?
