Quoted from packie1:I guess I am still not quite sure as I am testing ohms on coils and it sounded like all I need to do was meter the coils. I understand the coils on parallel, but would it not still ohm out the same?
No. If the coil is in circuit and parallel, you won't get an accurate reading. You need to remove one of the wires from the coil in order to get a true reading. I fell into this trap years ago working on a game. I figured the coil was bad, ordered a new one, and installed it. After I had the old coil out I tested the resistance and it was right on the money. Then I tested the new coil and it was giving me the same reading the old one was in circuit.
As Lloyd said, sometimes you can overthink.
