I have a new-to-me Pinbot. Rebuilt my flippers using vid’s guide. Thanks vid1900!

Someone hacked it up a bit before I got in there. I suspect they worked for an electrical tape company because they sure did use a lot of it.

I got it all together and played a few games, things seem to be working great.

    A few questions -

    1) My brackets didn’t have the ability to receive the external springs. I reused my conical springs on the shaft. Should I get replacement conical springs? Can I retrofit a bracket so I can use the external springs?

    2) despite vid’s admonition I simply couldn’t orient the diode side of the coil as he showed. Is that because I have the older style series coils? It really only went together one way...

    3) any way I could use the yellow caps with my older style series coils? The last guy had them connected somehow but I couldn’t figure out what they were doing and they weren’t present on the schematics anywhere.

Pics of the old garbage and new shiny are attached.

    Cheers!!

You can mount these to the screw holding the mounting bracket to the PF.

Yes, you need to mount them the PF somehow. The cap leads connect to the EOS switch. You need to insulate the leads tho.

    Buy these baseplates:

    https://www.pinballlife.com/williamsbally-left-staked-flipper-base-sub-assembly.html

They have the tall removable bracket for the EOS switch and the capacitor. The holes are already there for the external extension springs too.

kenlayton thanks for that link! Order will be placed today.

grumpy I'm not seeing the caps on the schematic in the location you describe (parallel with EOS switch). Is it a good idea to add them anyway?

Williams didn't start adding the capacitors until later. So they won't be in your schematics or parts lists. They get wired across the EOS switch.

Look at a manual from a F-14 or newer game.
