What's the difference between the lights in the sockets and the lights that are soldered into place and aren't in sockets? I thought the ones in mine that aren't in sockets might have been a hack, but pictures from HEP and TreasureCove show the soldered ones like mine.

Plastic ones are GI, the sockets soldered in are for flashers.

Soldered ones should use a blinker, not a standard bulb

Youre wrong! This is probably the only time that i'll be able to ever confidently say this to one of your posts

So an LED kit like from cointaker will have the correct blinker bulbs for those?

They should, but I would contact them to be sure

If I remember correctly, and this may not be true for TAF, they came installed with WEDGE 545 base blinkers....which became very expensive or discontinued. So many people removed them and replaced them with the 455 bases which are still available.

Like I said don;t know aboot TAF but I remember switching out my TZ sockets for that reason.

TZ and NGG had the #545's.

TAF and TAFG came with the #455's.

What's the replacement for the IDC sockets? This looks similar

I don't think those are correct...those are snap in used in later W/B & Sterns

It may be this. TAF uses this part number. Hard to tell with the angle the part is in the picture:
