Please look at the pictures below. This is inside my AC power supply inside the cabinet of my Fish Tales. It completely stopped working rather abruptly. I am hoping this disconnected wire from what appears to be a thermister is my problem. I decided to see if I could solder them back together but there must be something on that red wire that is not solder. I heated it with a soldering iron and nothing happened to it. It did not melt, nor did it smoke or smell. I'm wondering if it is some kind of epoxy, OR . . . what is on the end of the red wire is actually a piece of the thermister broken off and would perhaps never be put back together again.
My two questions are:
1. Is it possible to attach this red wire back to that same location where it was attached to the thermister? And HOW?
2. By coming apart like that, does it mean the thing 'popped' and is now fried and no longer working, and attaching the red wire would be a futile effort and I need to buy a new one.
Thanks for any help.
