Wondering if I should just get a new one. It seems many alakline damaged boards I've repaired come back with gremlins later. My eyes are old lol so I may miss some alakaline.

    Missing sounds and display issues.
If anyone wants to repair please let me know.

At the very least, U41 should be removed, cleaned, and socketed. There’s no way it’s gonna last without some problem that will come back haunt you based on the sanding that’s been done. Prolly more with better pictur3s.

RG is not a bad game if you give it a chance. It always depends on how much you have into it vs what’s needed to get it 100%

Yes. That board is not all that bad. Be sure to replace parts, not clean, which where hit by the alkaline damage. Can't clean inside parts where the alkaline gets into.

The BEST replacement for the 6821 is now the WD65C21N6TPG-14.

I repaired a board EXACTLY like that a few years ago... you need to tone out and repair all those hairline traces behind the battery holder. They are the drivers for the sounds and display segments. You will likely find a few that are open. I would test/address that first and then go from there with replacing parts. Unfortunately, the only sensible option is to use jumper wires on the solder side. That way, prissy collectors on this forum can call it a "hacked" mpu and not a "repaired" one.

Sounds good appreciate the advice from all About 6 traces open. Well see how it goes. I always prefer to try and keep original over rottendog if possible.

Rottendog should not even enter anyone's mind as a replacement.

DumbAss has new replacement boards that he had designed.
