Due to declining health Python Anghelo has announced that his last public speech will be tomorrow starting sometime between 3 and 4pm (est) at the Louisville Arcade Expo.

The speech will be done via video feed and will have John Trudeau in person doing a Q & A as well. It should be something special!! From what I understand John will do a talk starting at 3pm and then later Python will join in via the video feed.

It's very fitting that the Louisville Arcade Expo is the final venue as Python was involved in both Pinball and Video game art and design.

John and Python worked together at Williams and it will be fantastic to see the two of them together one more time.

Thanks to all of those at the show and John Trudeau for putting this together at the last minute. For those who can't make it in person I understand that it will be available for viewing as Broken Token will have live audio streaming during the entire show. The entire recorded video seminar of John and Python will be available later on BrokenToken.com.

For those who are not completely familiar with Python or his works here is the link to his Wikipedia page:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Python_Anghelo

If you have never had the chance to see Python do a speech you will NOT want to miss it. He is quite the unique personality. No two people read the same book and no two people have ever met he same Python.

    Enjoy!!

Real sad stuff. I wish I could make the expo, but I'll definitely be tuning in online. Thanks for the announcement!

Kudos for this. Will definitely have to watch this. It's just too bad that here in the 21st century, we still can't come up with a cancer cure.

An irreplaceable pinball presence will be lost when Python passes. A sad day in the World of pinball for sure.

Good luck and God bless too Python and all his extended family and friends.

    #6 5 years ago

I've had the pleasure and yup, Python is one cool cat. Sad stuff indeed.

    This makes me sad.

Sadly his dream of doing Pinball Circus won't come true either.

This puts so much in perspective. I never had the pleasure to meet Python but from what I have read and watched he truly "is a gem of a person and has a very special charisma". This reminds me a little of Steve Jobs and unfortunately once Steve stepped down from Apple you knew the end was near as he loved his work. Hopefully, somehow Python recovers but it is never a good sign when someone stops doing what they love as normally it means they no longer have the strength and will to move forward.....hopefully, this is not the case with Python and somehow things turnaround.

Here is wishing you the best Python and hopefully someone makes a copy of this speech so we can all view it at a later date. I am sure he will put on a show !!! Looking forward to seeing it. Hang in there big guy !!!

That also makes me sad. I wanted that game badly. It's the only game out there, I would have broke out of my limit just for that game and that game only.

Yup same here, I was all ready to sign up at Pinball Inc.'s booth at the Ohio show. Maybe someone else will carry the torch....? Really sad to hear about Python !!

I wouldn't say that just yet.

Must tune to that. Should be awesome. All our thoughts and prayers go out to Python and his family. Pinball royalty at its finest!
    Long live Python!

I wouldn't say that. He may not see its public release, but his dream of it coming true is what I think has kept him going. I think a lot of people will be enjoying Python's dream soon.

Please, hopefully more than one person, video record the Trudeau/Anghelo session for those of us unable to attend. Thanks.

What a truly great guy. I met him for the first time at Expo in October. I have always loved his artwork, but to get a chance to talk to him even just for 15 minutes or so was awesome. Wish him the best and wish I was there to see this interview.

    #28 5 years ago

Python is one of those people you'll never forget! I've been lucky enough to meet him 3 times, and heard a wealth of quotes I'll never forget.

    Ben,

If only we could publish the quote about how playfields taste.

I still need to send you the video of that btw.

I had no idea Python's health was poor until last week. I hope he can recover and live and create for many, many years...

Hopefully someone will record the speech and post a link, as I am not sure I will be available to see the live feed!

    #32 5 years ago

I believe someone was recording it. Al and James drove up to Louisville from Atlanta specifically to help out during Python's speech, and I'd be Al recorded it at the very least.

I'll ask them when I talk to them shortly.

    #33 5 years ago

Hopefully they either link it in here or start a whole new thread. Python's hilarious. He's got more personality in his pinky finger than most people have in their whole body.

    #34 5 years ago

cancer is a bitch. everyone slap the bitch for barry and python.

    #35 5 years ago

Just a heads up but it was recorded by several. Brokentoken (Whitney and Brent) recorded off the mixer board so the sound quality should be very good. 3 or 4 video cameras were recording too. Pretty sure once it is compiled they will upload for all.

And I agree, Python is hillarious!
John Trudeau did an awesome job with running the Q&A with Python.

Yes they said they would get it uploaded. Al Warner also did a video. Thanks for everyone that put it together, it was fantastic and Python really really loved it.

John Trudeau is a saint. Whitney and Brent are unreal, they had to piece together a video feed from scratch in 30 minutes and got it done. Al got a webcam just in time. Jeremy put all the pieces in place all while putting on a fantastic show. My son Leo was on Pythons end putting together everything and I couldn't be prouder. Pythons internet went down just before it was supposed to get started and somehow he and Leo got it going.

Most of all thanks to Python, you just can't imagine what it took for him to be able to do the show and he was still the same ol Python, PG-13 and all.

    WELL DONE EVERYONE!!!!

oh yea, thanks to the muppet too. He has been through a lot lately, more than you'll ever know.

    #39 5 years ago

Looking forward to the video, was out yesterday, playing pinball all day no less. Here's to hoping the last circus makes it to town. Thoughts go to Python.

Thanks Jeremy - you are right - we did get a direct line-out from the mixer for recording the audio and I was watching the stream through the entire seminar, so we should have everything. I've got all the files local now, so this week will begin the process of piecing through everything and doing the cuts/edits to get it all ready to be published.

We will be releasing the whole audio feed as a special podcast episode on our website and will release the audio/video to Youtube once we have it all ready.

Stay tuned, as I'll post back once it's ready to go!

Thank you so much for the kind words. We take the charge seriously and wanted to do the best we could. There were a few wireless challenges, but we pushed through and made it work out. It put a smile on my face to see John and Python talking to each other and I did a few passes through the room and everyone looked to be really engaged in the discussion.

All that being said, it was an *HONOR* for Brent and I to be involved in this. Thank you Jeremy for the opportunity and thank you James and Al for your help and coordination and thank you to John for the engagement... I could hear the feeling in his voice while he was talking to Python - it made it real.

It took everyone to get it done and the team made it happen!

We were taking up a donation for Python (and Barry) during the show, so we'll be tallying that up very soon and I'll also post back on the total collected.

What a great personality. From what I have heard from him taken from print, audio and video interviews he accomplished more than most of us ever will so kudos to him. Hoping he can turn it around.

I'm here and looking forward to the video up-link.

Thanks to all of you who are taking the time and effort to get this all worked out. It is much appreciated by us all and you guys are doing a great service to the Pinside Community. TY.

We've got it all done now. I apologize for the delay - Brent and I easily had 12+ hours (each) on editing. Convention center audio is not our friend, and we took a lot of time to ensure that the audio and video are as good as they can possibly be.

All the details are in the next post!

    #48 5 years ago

FYI to everyone that we've now got all of the audio and video processed for what is our last episode covering the 2014 Louisville Arcade Expo.

This episode is a real treat, as we get time with both John Trudeau as well as Python Anghelo. John reviews a slide show with highlights from his career and the games he has worked on over the years and talks quite a bit about the new Mustang pinball from Stern.

We then bring Python into the interview via a Skype video call where John and Python talk very candidly about Python's time in the industry.

This is all that much more poignant, as this wound up being Python's last public appearance before his passing on April 9th, 2014.

We want to thank Jeremy, Matt & Joe at the Louisville Arcade Expo, John Trudeau for his wonderful content and overseeing this opportunity as well as James Loflin for his help coordinating the schedule with Python. If I've left anyone out, it is completely unintentional and please accept our apologies.

The special audio presentation is available directly on our site -

    http://www.brokentoken.com/podcast-e...pythonanghelo/

The video of the seminar session is also available directly as well.
