What games would you choose if you didn't have any games in your collection and had a budget $25,000?

    #2 2 years ago

Pretty wide open question. Would you favor quantity over quality? How many pins can you fit? Are you looking for a mix of old vs. new, standard vs. widebody, easy vs. tough, etc..? I love these types of questions and happy to help out! I have probably spent about that much and my collection is:

    - Twilight Zone
    - AC/DC Premium
    - Medieval Madness Remake
    - WhiteWater

I try to get a good mix of machines with some being harder than others. I feel like every collection needs at least one or two of the bally/williams classics from the 90s. I'm not too much of a stern guy, but certain machines like Metallica (Pro or Premium) and AC/DC (Premium) are really fun and full of stuff to do with honorable mentions going to machines like TSPP and Spiderman which can both be had on the used market for fairly reasonable prices. As far as the remakes are concerned, I own an MMr and have played plenty of the AFMr and they are very well built and play great...you can't go wrong.

Feel free to shoot me a PM and we can chat over the phone if you'd like. I've only been in the hobby for a few years but, as you'll see from my collection history, I've had a fair number of machines thus far and have played most of what's out there.

2 HEP restored games and call it a day!

I'd go with a line of system 11's.

    DILE (9k)
    TNA (6k)
    TS (3k)
    BSD (3k)
    WCS (2.5k)
    HS (1.5k)

    #7 2 years ago

Wow - this is a tough one for me, as it would probably depend on how much space I had available. With limited space I would probably go with a couple of high end restored or NIB games, but with more space I would probably have a spread including a bunch of player quality games.

    TZ $5500
    AC/DC Premium $6800
    TWD Premium $6500
    MET Pro $4500
    Color DMD's $1,500

This will be interesting to see what other combinations are available in this price range. I actually ended up doing something similar to this as my firm budget was $25k. I still have room in the budget for 1 more pin. It's a mix of what I like and what my wife likes theme and play wise. We're both massive comic book fans. I grew up reading comics, watching Ghostbusters 1 & 2 and cartoon on repeat, and watching Star Wars movies since I was 5.

I would just try to acquire the one's that I have had for 5+ years... First two I would try to find would be Getaway and Judge Dredd.

First stab at this - I like games from various eras (post-EM), so here goes...

    Lord of the Rings ($5K)
    Metallica Pro ($5K)
    Medieval Madness ($8K)
    The Shadow ($3K)
    Diner or Taxi ($2K)
    Comet or Sorcerer ($1K)
Harlem Globetrotters or other early SS ($1K)

I would do a little bit of old school with some new titles.

    F14 tomcat (1.5K)
    Cyclone (2k)
    police force (1.3k)

    Johnny Mnemonic (2.5)
    Who dunnit (2.5l)

    Tron (5k)
    ACDC pro 5k

    MM(r) 8k
    LOTR (5k)
One of the JJP games (WOZ or DI) 8.5K
    Congo (3k)
and a rotating 1-1.5k game that you can fix and flip so you can try older games.

I'd lean heavily on 90s games to get more bang for your buck and have more games, rather than a few expensive ones. Something like:

The Getaway: High Speed 2 (2K)
    Bride of Pinbot (2.2K)
    No Good Gofers (3.5K)
    Whitewater (4.2K)
    Fish Tales (3K)
    Simpsons Pinball Party (4.5K)
    Lord of the Rings (5K)

    #18 2 years ago

    One new game 5-6k
    One popular 90s game 5k
    2 B/C 90s games 5k
    2 sys 11s 4K
    2 early SS 2k
    3 EMs 2.4k

    #19 2 years ago

    Option 1

    2013 Metallica Pro 4,500
    2011 Tron LE 10,000
1989 Elvira and the Party Monsters 3,500
    1980 Firepower 1,500
    1980 Xenon 2,000
    1965 Paradise 2,000
    1962 Cover Girl 1,500

    Option 2

    2013 Metallica Pro 4,500
    2011 Tron LE 10,000
1989 Elvira and the Party Monsters 3,500
    1981 Fathom 3,500
    1980 Firepower 1,500
    1980 Xenon 2,000

Might be dreaming a bit on some of the pricing. This is not idle speculation, I plan to do this for real. Someday.

That would be a kickass collection!

    #24 2 years ago

I'd make sure I was all over the map for that 25k. I'd make sure I dabbled in all different eras so I wouldn't feel limited or cookie cutter. So really it would be based on space. It would have a couple of good modern Stern games. It would have a couple 90s games. And then I'd fill in with classics. I'd run myself up to about 20k invested. And then without question I'd put aside that last 5k. When going from none to a lot of pins, you will miss one. You will play them for a while, and all of a sudden a bargain XYZ will come up, and you will feel like THAT is the game you need. You will want that 5k handy to grab that game.

    OR,,, OR,, kinda like this

    #42 2 years ago

MMr, LOTR, WOZ and TZ (you'd have to find good deals and would probably still be a bit over).
    or
Standard editions of WOZ, DI and JJPOTC.

I am actually planning on spending $25,000 on pins this coming year. It will be JJPOTC LE, Star Wars or GOTG Pro and hopefully TBL, all NIB.

    #43 2 years ago

What a fun question. (Oh, and if my pricing seems to be off to anyone, I think it's all possible-ish).

    JP - $1500
    4 Square - $500
    VND - $1800
    Iron Man - $4200
    Pinbot - $1200
    Baywatch - $1200
    Caribbean Cruise - $800
    NBAFB - $1500
    Count Down - $600
    Target Alpha - $600
    3 Coins - $600
    JD - $2000
    DM - $2000
    Starship Troopers - $1500
    BSD - $3000
    F-14 - $1200

$800 left over for underestimating any of the above.

I like having a diverse collection, but I picked my favorite four pins first before thinking about how to better diversify the line up. I feel pretty good that I got up to 16 games!

    #44 2 years ago

Here is a 7 pin lineup, mixing recent and old games from 4 or 5 decades.
    DI (regular) $8.5k
    TNA 6k
Twilight Zone $5.5k (you need one widebody!)
    WPT $2k
    2 early SS $2k
    1 EM from the 70's - $600

Make a party if total below $25k...

I picked only the EM's and they are underpriced as I know of a 4 Square in MI and my price was quietly denied, sticking to their $800.00 price.

The Target you might get, but you will have to fix it. The 3 Coins I have heard of but unknown on the price.

My $25,000.00 EM's in one large package as the more the lower price normally goes. So you 30+ EM machines watch out I might drop you a IM.
