On our Johnny Mnemonic, the drop target coil won't fire to lower the drop target. The raise drop target coil works properly. I have traced it to a bad Q44 transistor, but the machine is fully playable in spite of this issue.

As I have played it in an unrepaired state, I realized that with the drop target not automatically going down when the Start Mode is ready it seems to make the game play just a little bit harder because I have to knock the target down before making a repeat shot to start the mode.

I am inclined not to fix the board.

Has anyone else here elected not to fix something because a broken item actually made the game more enjoyable?

I see the issue with the JM as being similar to Dirty Harry wherein the sample machines have a drop target in front of the warehouse, necessitating an extra shot to get into the warehouse.
