I thought it was the entire time. Was amazed that some didn't and questioned us for discussing it as if it was.

Quoted from Chitownpinball:Uhhhhh TNA, JETSONS, BEATLES. Plenty out there. Not overdue at all.
Jetsons isn't single level. Also way to go, you almost named all the single level playfields to come out the last few decades.
Just add Whoa Nellie (et al), Bond 60th, and The Mafia and you got em all! (Throw in the rare King of Diamonds and Fathom remakes while you're at it)

FINALLY tho…a SIMPLE, SINGLE LEVEL, we have waited so long.
Quoted from Chitownpinball:FINALLY tho…a SIMPLE, SINGLE LEVEL, we have waited so long.
We have because there are so few of them, and of them some of them are not very good single level playfields (sorry Who Nellie et al, or the single ball only The Mafia, or the outrageously price Bond 60th)
TNA and The Beatles have really been the only good single level playfields the last few decades. Maybe Bond 60th, but yeah...not affordable to most pin heads.
Quoted from chuckwurt:For me, I couldn’t care less about the video side.
Hmm, no video to enjoy all those cool scenes in the movie? That's a big "eh" from me. Like to see it in action, but 10k+ potentially without video assets, what am I paying for?
The backglass screams Gottlieb artwork , but the rest of the cabinet and layout looks very retro Bally solid state era
Whats the bet those topper figures are going to be attached to 180 degree servos - so they do the twist!

Awe, shit. There's another grand...

Oh man I hope so!!
Looks like they achieved what they were going after…question is what kind of market is there for something like this at 10k(if that’s what is costs).
I'm not interested in a retro throwback single level game, so I have no dog in this hunt, BUT...
I think everyone is gonna go apeshit when they see how expensive this thing is. Just a hunch.
Why not just make the game that the market is used to and most likely really wants? This theme plus a modern design and all the media assets to go with it? It would fly off the shelves.
Can't wait 'til all these nimrods who apparently can't figure out how to press play on a Roku remote leave the hobby for the rest of us who just want to play a game of pinball on the playfield.
The audio package could save it but so far it feels before my time, which makes no sense with this theme. I get the whole royal with cheese but do we really need a couple of giant cheeseburgers on the playfield. Of all the scuplts to do for this theme they choose a cheeseburger?!
And now a practical question after the reveal. The game should have a separate thread for a club, right? And what should the name be? Pulp Fiction Club - BMFs? Pulp Fiction, Members Only - "Yeah, We Happy"?
I was really looking forward to this pin. Need more info before I say I’m definitely out. Leaning that way now with the lack of display.
When you get a license you have an obligation and responsibility to do the best you can with it…
Time will tell if that rings true here .
I feel like it's a missed opportunity to not film a reveal trailer where they pull the game flyer out of a lit up suitcase.
Quoted from TreyBo69:I feel like it's a missed opportunity to not film a reveal trailer where they pull the game flyer out of a lit up suitcase.
With such a rich film, the reveal and game could represent many missed opportunities (think Spinal Tap), but I remain interested. If CGC weren't somewhat involved, I'd be even more skeptical.
I am good with no video IF it has great music and callouts. Sounds and sayings trigger my memories and I basically can see the scene in my head but I can still concentrate on the ball. BUT.. the price must reflect the cost savings of no screen/clips or I am out.
If I wanted to watch the movie I would pop it in and watch it. Glad to have a movie game go this direction. Remind me of the movie, you really don’t need to show it to me frame by frame.
I'm in at $6-7K... possibly $7.5K. Anything more than that I'd rather have a Foo Fighters with full display and deep/great ruleset.

I think it’s possible for a game to have a deep ruleset without an LCD screen. I think this one is going to be a tad higher than 7.5k though.
Quoted from chuckwurt:We’re still doing this?
We should keep doing it for no other reason than I get a chuckle out of your responses...
so when I saw that leaked photo I though on noes but with all the info that's come out so far and the photo of the cabinet I'm in. I don't understand folks moaning about no screen, I never look at the screen when I'm playing to even notice the video. call outs and voice clips I hope are in as they are legendary but I tip my hat to CGC/Raw Thrills/Mark/Josh and team for going down a different path.
Quoted from precisionk:without video assets, what am I paying for?
A pinball machine without a TV on it. Remember those days?
I get the no LCD, I just want to play fun pinball argument, but I don't know. I can't personally fathom letting a company off the hook for all the modern things this game is lacking. This all just seems like a big cope. If you like games without screens and ramps there is no shortage of games that cost a lot less and are probably just as fun. Even if the price is 7k (I still am expecting to see 10k), no thanks for me. I guess if you got money to spend then so be it, but I just don't know how you'd pick this over just about any Stern, JJP, AP, or Spooky game at the same price.
I'd think $8k is the new minimum price floor for a non Stern Pro machine. Might as well prepare to be disappointed if you're expecting this to come in cheaper than $8k-$9k, if not more.
I'm hoping this has a fair number of mechs we haven't seen yet and interesting shots - looking forward to actual PF reveal shots. I'm all for a single level game if done right.
Segment displays in 2023? Fuck yeah. Not seeing video clips makes me more interested, not less.
Single level playfield in 2023? I'm so in. Modern touches on a single level are honestly something pinball needs more of. There's more to the game than comboing ramps, which is also delightful. Variety of play is a good thing.
But you gotta bring the whole package. You want to sell me a single level game, in a throwback cabinet, with segment displays for scores I am extremely interested and paying attention, but the art has got to kick ass to sell it. I want to lust after the object. It should be gorgeous.
This bizarre boardwalk cartoon character drawing style is such a strange decision in the light of that. I'm truly baffled. Mostly just disappointed though honestly. If Tarantino is behind this he's clearly losing his touch, or has some special affection for shitty Gottliebs.
It's like losing one of your senses, the rest get heightened. If you dump the display everything else becomes more prominent.

As always, I think so much of what Aurich says is spot on.

This cuts deep! I feel personally attacked. Next thing you’re going to say is that Big Game sucks.

Big game is great, just not 8K great.
Quoted from starfighter:Big game is great, just not 8K great.
Yet a new one would cost that. Just how it goes.
Quoted from Haymaker:If you like games without screens and ramps there is no shortage of games that cost a lot less and are probably just as fun.
I love 1980 Ballys, owned a bunch, played a bunch, they're great. But you do put up with a lot of things that modern games have you're used to enjoying. Like a ball save for shitty plunges. Music and sound effects that aren't limited by old processors and RAM. Modern LED lighting. Modern rule advances, even in simpler games there can be innovations in approach and score balancing.
And, all that with a nice new playfield, instead of one with a lot of wear.
Simpler, harder games are a ton of fun. Games that aren't designed for 45 minute play times are a ton of fun. Any decent sized collection should really have at least one, for variety and play with guests imo. We need more new ones. I wish Stern would make one too that wasn't tied to some dumb price scheme.
when I moved cross country and halved my collection, what went were modern games...what stayed were the classic early solid states
I knows what I likes, and I just want a game that is a blast to play for 5 minutes while I fart around the house
How does it flip will not be answered with this reveal yet we will read post after post about how people are "out" or "in" having never played a single game. To each their own obviously but I'll play it before passing judgement.
Quoted from chuckwurt:This cuts deep! I feel personally attacked. Next thing you’re going to say is that Big Game sucks.
Big Game has an amazing backglass. It doesn't have a tiger that looks like it was drawn to be a little league mascot.
Odd that they went with an 80's look for a 90's game.
As long as this game has some cool mechs, good rules, and great sound I'm still in for under 10k.
