    Quoted from TVP:

I commend people for looking after the good of others, but if anyone would think that these ads are real, they deserve to be scammed.

No one deserves to be scammed. There are many people using the internet who are new at it. Do what you can to protect them.

If everyone posting in this thread would include a link to the CL ad they'll get flagged off quicker.

    Quoted from cpu-slave:

It's happening all over. I have a little fun with the addresses - toss them into an anonymous emailer and sent them 10000+ spam messages (usually with their wall of keywords as the message body), drop the addresses into mailbait and let it run thousands of signups in the background, etc. Today an ad popped with a google voice number, and I bombed that with thousands of messages with their keyword wall as well.
They want to annoy me, I'll annoy them. Just flagging their ads over and over doesn't seem to stop them.

You're doing nothing helpful. No human is posting the ads or reading responses, it's all automated, except possibly the CL verification step. Flagging and reporting is the best you can do.

    Quoted from cpu-slave:

You know that for certain? Either way who cares if I annoy automation with automation... those gmail accounts must be real, so let them have some mail...

If you really want to do more than flag, reporting the Gmail addresses to [email protected] might be helpful. Google collects enough data that they might be able to block the bot-net being used to create the addresses. Slim chance, but better than your current commendable but wasted effort.

    Quoted from KenLayton:

when I click on "Prohibited", the ads are NOT disappearing!

That's a CL change. Click the trash can after the post title and it will hide the post from your list. I don't know why it doesn't auto-hide after being flagged anymore.

Added over 8 years ago: UPDATE: CL ads again auto-hide after clicking the prohibited link. Hooray.

Scammer back at it. $300 for a DMD game, trying to circumvent the CL email address protection and avoid getting blocked from further postings by having people email directly.

Scammer hiding a gmail address in the post:

"Dolphin Pinball Machine. Working Pinball machine, the playfield looks great and black glass is flawless. The score reel sometimes gets stuck but overall works great.

    Lowball offers will be ignored.

First one I've seen in a while. Please flag the scams so it's less likely someone gets ripped off.

Another one, same photo, this one listed in the jewelry section.
