In Colorado, pictures of a prototype Orbitor 1-type game have been found!
Found some extremely rare photos of a prototype (and unreleased) pinball machine by Stern that were never released to the public. The game is called CLONE and was designed by Dixie Rinehart, who sadly passed away in 2019. The photos were found inside of the developers Orbitor 1 game, which were discovered by Bills Game World (here in Colorado). Ive been asked by a few people to post hi-res pix from my previous post. So here they are. Thanks and Enjoy

This is outrageously cool.
Who has the prototype now?!? That’s so cool. I love Orbitor 1. The development was crazy!

Not known if the “Clone” machine still exists.
The pics were found inside the prototype Orbitor.

Who are the people in the pictures?

Quoted from transprtr4u:

Who are the people in the pictures?

I’d assume the two guys who invented Orbitor

#7 2 years ago

I knew that Orbitor 1 had been designed by some guys outside of Stern, and another machine was in the works, but it is so freaking cool to see what it would have looked like.

the article linked in the first post has some info on the people, some are not known.

If I had a beater Orbitor 1 I think I would try building this. Love the look of “Clone”.

Yeah, now I really hope the projects of clear formed playfields and spinning bumper repros come to fruition. Then someone could be crazy enough to make a different Orbitor 1 style game!

Cool to fill in the gap with this info

Great story. Hmm, will have to keep an eye out at pawn shops but if clone was in his possession and then given up by the family it seems like it would be on the western slope.

Seems like both Al Gross and Art Meyers would be persons of interest to inquire about the last known location of Clone. Although its possible Dixie may not have kept it because by the obituary, it seems he was more credited with Orbitor 1/ Orbitron 1.

I’m always intrigued with the early 80’s pinball world. The art and games were just so creative. Some of it worked and some of it did not, but the style and creativity is always interesting.
