Damn those lamp sockets. I changed a bunch on my Supersonic. Should have changed them ALL!
I'm enjoying watching your progress. Good work.

Thanks for the link to Jeff's site. I have my red post on my Supersonic and now I know why it is there. Way cool.
Do you have a digital volt meter with min / max mode. If you have grabber leads, hang them on the 5V and GND test points on the MPU and play a bunch of games. When it has an issue, look at the readings and see what voltage it drops to. Do the same for the 12 volt test point. You have enough room to leave your meter in the head when playing.
I bet you have a voltage dipping too low.
Quoted from TractorDoc:I did this after work today. Basically I stuck the leads on the test points/held them with my right hand while I pushed the right flipper button with my left. Eventually the MPU did reset but the 5V never flickered and stayed on/steady. Not sure that it would make any difference but I pulled the 1A fuse from under the playfield to disable the other coils (it made no difference )
I did not do the 12V test point, but that will give me something to do tomorrow.
I do appreciate all the comments and suggestions. . . we will figure it out sooner or later!
You need to use min / max mode if you meter has it. The dropout might be so fast, the display can't show the change in a timely manner. The min / max mode will log the info into memory and let you see it as you push the button to cycle through the results. If you have a drop in the 5V, it will be quick. Then you can start looking at the regulator on the solenoid driver board. The 11.9 unregulated feeds the 5V regulator. Maybe something is marginal there and flaking out. If it continues, move it to the Early SS forum and ask.
My mother was there too last week. She had a great trip. Your photos look great. She sent a few photos to us that were beautiful as well.
Quoted from Mad_Dog_Coin_Op:Was that done with a rattle can or sprayed with a gun? I'm on the fence - painting my legs or dropping them off at the powdercoat joint. Yours turned out great.
Rust-Oleum Mettalic Gray for my Bally legs. Rattle can - Walmart. Lowe's used to stock this color, but not anymore.
