I’ve been collecting parts for a few months for a project that I’ve called Backbox Jukebox because Backbox Bluetooth Speaker just doesn’t have the same ring to it.

I started with a spare backbox and wanted to put it to use as a wall hanger, but one thing led to another and now it will be more functional.

    Here are the parts rundown:
    WPC backbox converted to WPC-95
    2.1 (50wx2 100wx1) class D Bluetooth amp
    Kicker 5 1/4” coax
    Stern LCD DMD
Run DMD (in the near future)
    AFM translite (hopefully this week)

Lighting (to be determined)-I could use some suggestions whether a 24x24” LED panel or the rope style cabinet lighting would be best.

Power- I’ll need some sort of switch activated power strip to mount inside the backbox. Open for suggestions if anyone has an idea to power everything up/down from 1 convenient switch.

I’ll also need to find a way to mount the amp where the knobs are accessible. I believe the only way to do it is by utilizing the holes in the bottom of the backbox.

Subwoofer- I’d like to add a wireless sub to keep any wires out of sight.

(The WPC wood speaker panel in the picture was just for mock up purposes)

Looks sweet. I've been noodling a similar project. I've prototyped some of the parts but it's a low priority for me.

I've been wanting a digital juke box in my basement and/or house for a while now. Did the airports in each room so I could play different songs to each room. Then did pi's....But there is no good jukebox software on android tablets. This is such a cool idea! Would love to see what you do and how it progresses!

I was considering an all-in-one computer monitor with jukebox software instead of using the backglass, but I’m going to just use Bluetooth as the audio source for now.

I have a pi and considered using it, but decided to try and keep it simple.

    Current status:
Run DMD is on its way
    Lighting has been installed
    AFM translite arrived

I’ll post a couple pics this weekend.

All I need is a power cable for the DMD and then it will be finished.
