Stern, 2017I recently started having a problem with the Rocket Racoon kickback firing when pressing a flipper or a pop bumper getting activated. Has anyone ever experienced a problem like this? Should I just replace the opto transmitter and receiver assembly?
Could it be related to a different problem?

Most likely loose opto. The vibration caused by the flipper or sling moves the opto, triggering it.
You can test for this. Glass off, make sure the white post on the inside left of the coin door is pulled out, go into switch test mode on the diagnostic menu. Smack the playfield firmly with your palm or fist in various places and see if that opto triggers. If it does, align and tighten the opto. Retest. It should be fixed.
