Use Gottlieb # A6888+ Flipper shoe & shaft assembly with Gottlieb # A6888+P threaded pin from Pinball Resource.

http://www.pbresource.com/flippers.html

#56 5 years ago
Quoted from Pinballer31520:

Stern sending me new flippers and a new score reel. I will also say rubbers are sub par . With very little play i am having to change out broken rubbers

They probably bought them from Pinball Life.

Acupuncture: Did you receive a manual with your machine? I couldn't even find any mention of Primus on Stern's website.

#169 5 years ago
Quoted from turbo2nr:

I have to mention that we have 12 songs, and not 13 as advertised.
Missing the song, "Seven". They just forgot to add, or deleted it on purpose?
Also, these flashers do not work, ever. Even during burn-in/coil test.
They do work if you add power to them. I tried that.
Maybe Stern have update code to fix?
I reported the findings to them 10 days ago.
Other than that, for me the machine is great. Minor little complaint from me.
In the end I am happy to have purchased and no plans on selling.
I added a few songs to my machine and deleted some.
But, still limited to 12 songs on rotation.
I will just wire my flasher to stay On for now until code is added to activate them at some point? (or not?)
Scott
.

Did you get a manual with your machine? If so, at least some schematics may help determining where those flashers are connected in the circuit and what provides power to them. Maybe it's possible you have a defective board or they forgot to add those flashers into the game code.

Quoted from turbo2nr:

I work on machines and circuit boards for a living.
The Flashers plug into the "Flasher" plug. (Clearly labeled)
Node 11b has an output "CN4", which is the output to those Two lights.
My lights do work, as I have tested them with power.
They are just never commanded to come On by the software code I believe.
Or, as you said I maybe have a defective Node 11b board?
It is One of the Two.
Node 11b also controls the LED lights to the "credits" reel, and that LED works fine.
So, I'm asking other owners if they see the flasher LEDs come On or not?
Also asking the PBR Can Crusher guys.
If no code is ever added by updates, then I will just wire them up to stay On when machine is powered.
It's a minor complaint. Noting serious. My machine was built halfway decent. It works fine.
I tossed the original flippers day One and never will install them again.
People just have small issues. Nothing seriously wrong with the machine. Plays fine. I like it.
Not sure why so many people who don't own this machine feel the need to constantly comment in this thread.
Why not let the actual owners do the complaining guys? We don't need help doing that.
Thanks

It might be worth talking to Stern tech department and see what they say. Maybe you got a bad node board?

#211 5 years ago
Quoted from turbo2nr:

No, thats what im asking you. We have over 500 games and they never turned on.
Im done testing. WNBJM is not different. Only sounds and art.
Same code including the code for a chime unit that does not exist. Still passed down to the Primus. All lights, scores, and basic game play.

Wiring for chime unit or bells is done through connectors CN5, CN7, and CN9 on the 11 node board in the backbox. All coils would be Stern # 26-1200. This should apply to Nellie, Pabst, and Primus machines.

CN5 pin 3: Bell or chime 1 point (factory wire color: yellow-blue)
CN5 pin 4: +48v to 1 point coil (factory wire color: gray-black)

CN7 pin 3: Bell or chime 10 point (factory wire color: yellow-gray)
CN7 pin 4: +48v to 10 point coil (factory wire color: gray-black)

CN9 pin 3: Bell or chime 100 point (factory wire color: yellow-violet)
CN9 pin 4: +48v to 100 point coil (factory wire color: gray-black)

It is suggested to use a Gottlieb chime unit, but swap the Gottlieb coils for Stern 26-1200 ones. You could also use a reproduction chime unit like this:

Quoted from turbo2nr:

Im not getting any voltage from those pins. Those three plugs all have wires going to bottom of machine that are plugged into nothing. We probe the wires during game and see nothing.
Looking in menu for something related to chime or? And see nothing

Pin 4 of connectors CN5, CN7, and CN9 should have a constant +48v on them. That provides the power to the coils. It appears that pin 3 of each of those connectors provides ground to the coil to turn on the coil just like other electronic pinball machines. So pin 4 would go to the cathode side of the diode on the coil and pin 3 would go to the anode side of the diode on the coil. Naturally, be sure to enable th bell in the software.

The Nellie manual shows three seperate individual optional bell assemblies in the cabinet parts section. So maybe that's what those cables are you mention?

Don't forget that if your game has a white solenoid power safety switch at the coin door hinge, be sure to have it pulled out to provide coil power.

Here's the changes:

V1.2 - January 11, 2019
=======================

- Added "The Seven" to the main play background music.
- Improved random song selection to reduce repeats before all songs are played.
- Added new sound and voice over effects.
- Added back box flasher effects.
- Corrected coil firing for user-installed chime units.
- Corrected erroneous switch error tech alert messages.

I see they added in the backbox flashers and chimes support.

#232 5 years ago
Quoted from turbo2nr:

I enabled all three bell.
But still no voltage to the three chime outputs.
Pins 3 and 4 (they already have plugs and wires going to bottom plugged into nothing)
Any other ideas?
I tried disable reel sounds thinking the chine would work as we disabled the digital reel sounds, but no.

Chime/bell unit support now added in the latest game code.

#233 5 years ago

A Gottlieb # B8672A three inch bell assembly could be used as the 1 point bell unit.

#236 5 years ago
Quoted from luch:

so does this mean whoa Nellie will be update too ?

I would hope so.

#246 5 years ago

You're right on the chimes. After watching the video, that "reproduction" chime unit sounded horrible. The genuine Gottlieb unit was perfect.

#248 5 years ago

The latest game code (version 1.3) has now been added to Stern's website.

Quoted from jfesler:

Page 43 of the Whoa Nellie manual covers the flipper assemblies. You can download that from Stern if the
Pabst manual is lacking.

Where can one find the Pabst manual or the Primus manual? They are NOT on Stern's website.

Quoted from Pinstym:

Pretty sure I've got the manual in my crusher. If there's anything you need me to look for in it, just let me know.

Since Stern has never posted a manual, can you scan it and send it to the pinball database for everyone's benefit?

#261 4 years ago

That game has a Happ coin door with Happ locks installed. The key number is stamped into the face of the lock.

#263 4 years ago

So there actually is a Can Crusher Manual.

I wonder if the people with a Primus actually got a manual in their machines too?

These manuals need to be scanned and shared since Stern is not forthcoming with manuals for these machines.

#264 4 years ago
Quoted from bigehrl:

my only current gripe would be that the game has flashers in the backbox that don't ever seem to flash (unless someone can show me otherwise). this is a code issue, as they work fine in test. i mentioned this to stern when i called about my flipper. the response: "well, it's not a very deep game." to which i said: "yeah, that's true, but it has flashers, they should flash."

The flasher problem was corrected with the latest game code.

Quoted from Pinstym:

I need to find the coin box keys. I think 11 months now I can't get inside. Ridiculous.

Did you get a chance to scan that manual yet?

Did you get a chance to scan that manual yet?

Pinstym: Any updates on scanning that manual?

#273 3 years ago

Nope. Any chance it could be submitted to the IPDB?

My mailbox limits are 10mb file size maximum.
