I can't seem to get my appendix to do anything. Maybe God has a part time gig at Stern.

#202 5 years ago
Quoted from oldskool1969:

WNBJM has these " flashers ", be aware they are 5V flashers and not the usual 12V.
I extended mine on a bent bit of aluminium to bring them forward and they work fine, they were very dull as they were set back too far. There is a specific test for these.
Also added light to gobble hole with a 10SMD LED strip from comet attached to GI.
Would love to get both PCC and Primus SD cards to change the call outs.
SIMPLE FUN GAMES. love em
MELLUNS!
[quoted image]

So.....when do they turn on, or flash during game-play man?

I have an email from sterm saying they are not functioning in WNBJM

WNBJM may be different to PRIMUS code? only thing I can suggest is take off back glass while playing to see.

No, thats what im asking you. We have over 500 games and they never turned on.
Im done testing. WNBJM is not different. Only sounds and art.

Same code including the code for a chime unit that does not exist. Still passed down to the Primus. All lights, scores, and basic game play.

Quoted from vid1900:

So you got free flashers, and you guys are complaining???
Did you ever take your Moto cell phone apart and notice that there are "notification" LEDs inside, that are never used in the software? "Rooting" your phone is the only way to assign and utilize them.
Did you ever look at your Ford engine and notice that there is a NOS port and wiring harness, even though Ford does not offer an NOS package for your car?
Did you ever press the sound test button on your Bally Vector pin and hear all the voice samples that were never programmed into gameplay?
Did you ever hack your Arcade1Up, and find that the full Atari Breakout is programmed into the gamecode, but no menu to access it?
Cry, Cry, Cry all the way home

Lol...good, you've earned your pay

If I stand in front of my WNMBJM ( can't due to leg surgery complications ) I will take a video and post it.
It most definitely does.
Guess you will have to wait until I am able to help you out, sorry mate.
Have fun with it in the mean time and don't stress the small stuff.

Just crack yerself a can of pork soda

#208 5 years ago

I like these left field threads that just somehow become the nuttiest fucking thing on Pinside.

Honestly haven't read a post in here just thought I'd let y'all know what's goin down tonight

Wiring for chime unit or bells is done through connectors CN5, CN7, and CN9 on the 11 node board in the backbox. All coils would be Stern # 26-1200. This should apply to Nellie, Pabst, and Primus machines.

CN5 pin 3: Bell or chime 1 point (factory wire color: yellow-blue)
CN5 pin 4: +48v to 1 point coil (factory wire color: gray-black)

CN7 pin 3: Bell or chime 10 point (factory wire color: yellow-gray)
CN7 pin 4: +48v to 10 point coil (factory wire color: gray-black)

CN9 pin 3: Bell or chime 100 point (factory wire color: yellow-violet)
CN9 pin 4: +48v to 100 point coil (factory wire color: gray-black)

It is suggested to use a Gottlieb chime unit, but swap the Gottlieb coils for Stern 26-1200 ones. You could also use a reproduction chime unit like this:

Im not getting any voltage from those pins. Those three plugs all have wires going to bottom of machine that are plugged into nothing. We probe the wires during game and see nothing.

Looking in menu for something related to chime or? And see nothing

#213 5 years ago

I think i found it in menu.

Enable bell #1,2, and 3.

#214 5 years ago

Nice job, Stern.

First you saved pinball, and now you're ruining it.

#215 5 years ago

Nope....that didnt work either.

#216 5 years ago

I enabled all three bell.

But still no voltage to the three chime outputs.

Pins 3 and 4 (they already have plugs and wires going to bottom plugged into nothing)

Any other ideas?

I tried disable reel sounds thinking the chine would work as we disabled the digital reel sounds, but no.

#217 5 years ago

Next idea, I am going to use a WNBJM code in my primus and see if I can get chime output working or not?

Here we go!

I guess I can test the flashers while I'm at it.

I have now the WNBJM code on a spare SD drive. I'll find out myself.

We are discussing adding a chime unit, and other stuff.

Why you guys feel the need to add non-sense to this thread?

Why are you even wasting your time reading this if you don't own a primus machine?

Makes me want to take a belt and whip (or hang) some of you.

Go find a hobby or something constructive to do, eh?

Maybe post non-sense in Lounge area? Here, I'll help ya find it.

Back to the Chime!

Anyone know about adding Chime, as far as setting up machine options to take advantage of the hardware?

Sooooo, you can't get your $8,000 toy to work and you're so upset that you want to hang us?

Good to know.

It's lyrics from a song dude. (Primus song, "Bob")

I'm adding something not included in the machine idiot.

My pinball machine works fine.

I don't see any threads about this topic of adding chime unit to Spike system.

Sooooooo, you have nothing better to do with your time other than troll a Primus pinball thread? lol.... That's pretty sad man.

I hope you find something to do with your life and your spare time. Good luck!

Pin 4 of connectors CN5, CN7, and CN9 should have a constant +48v on them. That provides the power to the coils. It appears that pin 3 of each of those connectors provides ground to the coil to turn on the coil just like other electronic pinball machines. So pin 4 would go to the cathode side of the diode on the coil and pin 3 would go to the anode side of the diode on the coil. Naturally, be sure to enable th bell in the software.

The Nellie manual shows three seperate individual optional bell assemblies in the cabinet parts section. So maybe that's what those cables are you mention?

Don't forget that if your game has a white solenoid power safety switch at the coin door hinge, be sure to have it pulled out to provide coil power.

#229 5 years ago

Did you get the flashers to work with the WNBJM code?

#230 5 years ago

New Primus code out . Added song plus some other stuff !

#231 5 years ago

Here's the changes:

V1.2 - January 11, 2019
=======================

- Added "The Seven" to the main play background music.
- Improved random song selection to reduce repeats before all songs are played.
- Added new sound and voice over effects.
- Added back box flasher effects.
- Corrected coil firing for user-installed chime units.
- Corrected erroneous switch error tech alert messages.

I see they added in the backbox flashers and chimes support.

A Gottlieb # B8672A three inch bell assembly could be used as the 1 point bell unit.

Just curious..is it possible to load the code for Primus on a Whoa Nelly or Can Crusher and vice versa?

Oh, please. There are right ways to do it and wrong ways. People acting like the world is coming to an end and expect pins to be delivered issue free are not realistic.

I just saw the mention here, and the reference to https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/wnbjm-with-chimes

Yes, I put Gottlieb chimes in my WNBJM. In the thread I posted where I got the chimes, etc; plus documented how I find the places to tap into.
I can say the repro chimes I picked up first, sucked. Go Gottlieb, or go home. (Short version, get’em here: http://www.crowriver.com/clock/clockparts.htm)

PBL’s Spike knocker kit is also installed, works great.

I can also say that my WNBJM got a lot_ of play at my party this last Saturday. . With 19 machines to choose from, the WNBJM with chimes was still pretty popular. They don’t suck. Note that I have all the game sounds turned off - all sounds are purely mechanical.

Additionally, at least for WNBJM, I felt they used the wrong lights, and swapped them out. This was easy enough, except for the pop bumpers. Those sucked.

You're right on the chimes. After watching the video, that "reproduction" chime unit sounded horrible. The genuine Gottlieb unit was perfect.

Quoted from MustangPaul:

What the hell are even referring to Paul? I was commenting on that there are right ways to report your NIB problems on this site and there are wrong ways. You been spending too much time out in the desert filming cars buddy.

edit: ok, I guess I get it now. you are saying you had a pin delivered issue free. good for you. spirit of the comment was always expecting them to be issue free.

The latest game code (version 1.3) has now been added to Stern's website.

Hey Folks - I've got Pabst but have been reading here about the flipper issues. My right flipper has just gone limp. Is this the common issue people are seeing? What's the recommended fix for this?

Here's a short video of the problem:
