    Quoted from Zablon:

I feel there is a lot more to this story than you are telling us.

    Full story.

Checked Nashville craigslist, a guy who owns a putt putt course near opryland wanted to clear out his arcade for new stuff. Had listed air hockey, big buck hunter, got pro, couple fast n furious arcades, and a few other things. He did not list a price. I was the first to call and inquire on pricing for buck and GOT, he told me if i bought both he would do 2k on GOT and 800 on buck. I couldnt believe it! I told him i would make the 2.5 hour drive to Nashville after work and wired him a deposit so he wouldnt sell to anyone else.
When i arrived he said he had higher offers but he was a man of his word, and sold it and the buck to me. I asked why so cheap, and he said he had more than paid it off with visitors and he wanted to move it fast. Lucky me i guess.
I traded it after 3 weeks for a new acdc vault, and after a year traded that for an imdn, which i still play everyday.

Bought a Banzai Run in 2004 for $750. Sold in 2007 for $2200 which at the time was considered top, top dollar. Only game I regret selling.

Let's do a quick reality check to show how much prices have escalated:

I'll compare prices for what I paid against prices from "back in the day" pricing. This is only for the games I currently own.

TAF: $900 to $2400 based on prices listed here; I paid: $5500 in 2016
CFTBL: $800 to $2100 based on prices listed here; I paid: $5200 in 2017
BSD: $900 to $1500 based on prices listed here; I paid: $2400 in 2016
Shadow: $1100 - $1650 based on prices listed here; I paid: $4200 just this week
Scared Stiff: $1395 to $3450 based on prices listed here; I paid: $6800 in 2019

So taking the max prices of each game from "back in the day" and combining them yields a total of: $11,100 for all 5 games.

What I paid just for those five games alone from 2016 to present yields a total of: $24,100 for all 5 games.

$11,100 for 5 games back then vs. $24,100 today! I could buy all five games back in the day or just CFTBL today

    HELL YEAH!!!!!

So glad prices are up - makes this hobby great!!!!

In 2013 I bought a scared stiff, taxi and World Cup soccer all for $4k but had to move them in 24 hrs. Only had pickup truck at time.

Looking back however I missed the most important thing. Buy the game in the best shape! Not the cheapest! I was always looking for the great deal. I passed on to many perfect low play games due to price. They would be worth way more today than the ones I bought.

When new games are selling for $6000 to $12,500 then old games are going to rise in price. Even a Funhouse in great shape. A guy said he only wants to pay a max of $5000 for a perfect HOU Champion Pub, I politely said those days are over. Maybe for a player one.

    Quoted from Gryszzz:

It was 2014 or 15 when someone on here threw up a HH and BH both working, for $750. Will prob be my last words.....I SHOULDA BEEN FASTER.

I bought these. They were not quite working, but they were cool.

What’s the purpose of the thread? I thought psychological torture was outlawed by the Geneva convention.

I guess the only positive outlook is if you had the money invested well in the market, the returns might keep closer pace or exceed the escalation of pin prices.

A picture from my garage arcade 10 years ago. The most expensive game (highest price I paid of these) in the picture?

The linked Indy 500 in the foreground (red & blue seat) at $700.

Had Tapper too back then. Paid an absurd sum of $900 for it.

Not some mega deal by these standards but I bought a TZ in excellent shape for $2000 back in 2006. That was not too far off of the going rate back then but it's crazy to see them going for 6-10k nowadays. Probably speaks more to just how fast 13 years flew by...
