Hey Pinsiders. I was curious if anyone knows what some of the older games went for when they were new?

You know... what did a ToM, Cyclone, Black Hole or whatever go for back in the day when they were new?

Just something I was thinking about...

All I know is that a Medieval went for about $3000,- new back in the days...

Black Hole about $2800, TOM about $3400, Medieval about $3600.

    So...
are we saying that the appreciation of most pinball machines doesn't keep up with inflation?

HENSBROOKER and LTG, that's great information and quite interesting. I was thinking about how expensive the new machines are now, but $2800 for Black Hole would have been a lot of money back in 1981.

Some like circus vol didn't sell well and were eventually sold at clearance blowouts for less than $2000

Just for fun I ran those prices through an inflation calculator website. I don't know how accurate it is, but I'm guessing it's somewhere in the ballpark.

Black Hole at $2800 in 1981 would be equivalent to $7068 in 2013
Theatre of Magic at $3400 in 1995 would be equivalent to $5135 in 2013
Medieval Madness at $3600 in 1997 would be equivalent to $5191 in 2013

Wow! Well, I guess that's about what they're charging for the Pro machines now and Black Hole if it was a "Premium".

Stern was killing themselves making great games at old prices.

Remember all the layoffs, when times looked like they might not make it ?
