Would someone please give me a realistic price for a Wiliams Whirlwind? It is listed in "great condition" by the seller on Craigslist, but only has one photo of the translight. I have asked for more photos. Asking price is $1500. If it truly is in good to excellent condition, is this a fair price? I live in the Metro Northeast, where things might be a bit more expensive than the rest of the world. Being new to pinball collecting, are there significant price differences between regions of the dear old USA? Thanks for any insight you can provide.

#2 10 years ago

Yes that is a great price if it's in good condition. It won't last long if not gone already..

#3 10 years ago

Yes, thats a good price if in good condition .I see nice Whirlwinds go for around $2000 to $2200. I have owned 2 and that is was what i got, trade deal or sale price.Make sure it has a topper!

#4 10 years ago

There was a nice one near here for $1900 recently, and I thought that was a pretty fair price. $1500 is definitely nice if it's in good shape

#5 10 years ago

I sold mine for 2,000.00. 1,500.00 is a great price if it is decent. Ed

#6 10 years ago

Thanks guys. It's probably gone. There was no response for my request for pictures. But who knows, it was listed Christmas Eve and maybe the seller hasn't checked his mail! Thanks for the input.

#7 10 years ago

Keep after him. That's a great price!

#8 10 years ago

Keep on it till you get an answer.
Go look at it with cash in hand and a ride to haul it.
If its in good condition $1500 is a great price. Since its Christmas you will most likely not get and
Answer until tomorrow.

#9 10 years ago

$1500 is amazing. I picked up mine for $1950 with a very nice playfield but a cabinet that needed a lot of lovin'.
Plus I replaced a bunch of other parts including the topper which is not cheap.

There was no reply from the seller because someone probably already purchased it, who didint need additional pics. Next time, Just go get the game.

#16 10 years ago

Don't give up until you hear from the seller. It's Christmas.
He/she is most likely busy with family today.

I think they are fairly close, depending on the area. I scored a dp ww for under the 1600 price in sept/oct of this year. Pf has no wear and will clean up nice. Cab has no drill holes, but is scraped up. Very nice original game.

I'd buy a ton of machines...any machines at pinballeric's prices.

I don't know where all of his low prices come from...but they are ALWAYS low.

Those prices are rediculous. I was scoffed at for trying to get one for $1200

http://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/wtb-whirlwind-in-the-1200-1500-range-eastern-pa-area

(which I finally did get) and it needed some lovin all around. I'de classify it as "ok".

Maybe those prices are the most to pay for one if your planning on flipping it.

If you could filter by year at least maybe these would be accurate. The problem is the averages are over a pretty wide time span.

Back to topic, player's machine can be had for around $1,500. 2k range for a good one.

Stop it. If you're going to post pricing information, try to be somewhere in the neighborhood of correct.

He isn't selling pins. He's buying them with profits from sales of the price guide

Pins have so many thing that can be very right or very wrong. The idea of setting an exact price seems absurd to me. I've bought a pin just to get the backglass. The backglass was nearly perfect and unobtanium. The rest of the pin was player quality at best. I think price guides are OK for coins and stamps, but for pins not so much.

My take after a long search for a good whirlwind:

Good:1300 - player unshopped with wear
Better:1850 - shopped functioning properly
Best: 2200 - Very very clean, no wear, new displays, very nice cab

add a little to this for new PF, LEDs, plastics, mods, etc...

add $1250 if they have hooked up a Chevy Vortex V6 to the topper fan

There is a member here that got a t2 off c/l about 4-5 months ago for $900. He just kept emailing and calling. After about 2 weeks the Old man that owned it finely got back to him and he picked it up.
My point this story don't give up. It could be a cl bs ad. Or it could be someone that is not too tech savy and they will get back to you. You have nothing to lose be sending an email every day for another week or so.
