I'm thinking about putting my whirlwind up for sale. I'm out of space and it gets played the least at this point.

It plays 100% with no errors and is a decent players game.

Needs to be shopped.
I've got new sling plastics and rubber kit with it.

Let me know what you think. I love the game, need to see if it's worth selling.

Playfield looks nice. I'm gonna say 2200

#4 8 years ago
Quoted from yzfguy:

Without pics, the term "players game" is a little scary. I'm gonna guess 1800 and start the bidding at $1200

I was in the process of uploading pics Pics are on my phone but I hate typing so I post with my computer and upload with the phone.

The left ramp is cracked but it's covered by a cliffy. I couldn't really get a decent picture of it. It's functional but when I got it the ball would get trapped there before I put the cliffy on. I just never got around to shopping it. Too busy playing it.

Has a working topper and the spinning disc decals are new.

$1500-$2500 depending on condition. Fully restored with CPR playfield could fetch $3500.

If you replaced the broken plastics, shopped the game out and did a flipper rebuild I think assuming the game has no other wear besides the right scoop, it could fetch $2200. If the game had LEDs bump that up a bit.

If I were in the market the questions I'd have are
1.) Is there any other wear besides the scoop?
2.) How's the cabinet? Faded, etc?
3.) topper operational?
4.) any raised inserts.

This is one of my favorite games and really Pat Lawlor's brilliance shines. I can't believe this dude put out EarthShaker, Whirlwind, Funhouse and Addams all within a few years. Genius stuff.

2.) How's the cabinet? Faded, etc?
Cab is bright but the paint has a little bit of planking.
3.) topper operational?
Yup
4.) any raised inserts.
Nope - not that I can see. It is mostly mylared so don't hold me to no raised inserts.

Could use a new set of drop targets. They look like the plastic is thin. Probably from lots of play.

#13 8 years ago

Sold my players condition about 2 years ago for 2000.

Yours looks Nicer.

#14 8 years ago

Sold one that was in a home since 91 and had a beautiful playfield (no wear around the spinners) and nice cab. I did a complete teardown and shopout with mostly leds , all cliffys , new correct spinning disk stickers and newer displays. Sold it for 2500 to a local friend and had lots of interest even some offering 2700. Id say yours could fetch 2- 2250

#15 8 years ago

I have seen beaters sell at shows for 2200+. Its a great game getting tough to find.

#16 8 years ago

i paid 1600 for a working project machine.....

#17 8 years ago

Mine is in very similar condition and I paid $2300 for it here in California. I bought it a few months ago if that helps. I absolutely love it and play it everyday. These are getting harder to find...sure you're ready to let it go?!

#18 8 years ago

I sold one that was in similar condition for $2000 to my neighbor a few months ago but it was shopped. If yours was shopped it might actually be a little nicer so I say yours is a $2000 game as is sits, maybe a little more.

Thanks everyone - all the prices are in line with what I was hoping / paid. I played it a bunch last night and now am having second thoughts . Might have to head to the bowling alley and play a few games of GOT to motivate me.

richthoven ,fully restored with new playfield could go for $3500?
There are other posts specifically addressing a full restoration of a Whirlwind on pinside.
Check them out you are Way low!
better yet buy a base game, all the needed parts, do the restoration and then list it for $3500.
even if you pay youself $0 for labor the total will be substantially higher than your estimate.
