Hey everyone.

I found a local gentleman who is looking to move down south and sell his pinball collection. Very nice guy. I brought my friend to inspect some of the machines since I'm new to the hobby and dont have a good eye yet. He said all the machines were amazingly clean and near mint. Theatre has some wear on the chest but he has another brand new chest he will include. The only thing needed is a good shop job and cleaning. For the most part most of the machines were original. Most of the machines were on route for a few months before he purchased them, and have been in his basement ever since.

I'm mainly interested in Twilight Zone & Theatre of Magic. Can you please give your input on what I should pay individually and for both? Sorry for the picture quality! I tried!

For those of you wondering he has: Star Trek LE, Cactus Canyon, Wizard of Oz Emerald City LE, Medieval Madness, Theatre of Magic, Twilight Zone, Fun House, Monster Bash, Cirquis Voltaire, Addams Family, Tales of the Arabian Night and some others.

Gonna be pricey....that TZ will be over 6K. He must have offered a price to you? He has a WOZ so he knows current pricing it's likely to assume.

#3 9 years ago

TZ looks pretty good, but without knowing condition of boards or under the pf/inside cab, if it looks as good as the pf , I'd say $6000-$6800

No fade on decals is a plus. Looks original. Any credit dot? Did you play it?

#4 9 years ago

A Good deal for you would be about 10k total for both? I haven't really watched the pricing on the A listers recently,

I would say 11k for both would be a fair deal. But yeah, 10k for both would be great!

Yeah I've even seen people asking $8200 for a game in this condition

#7 9 years ago

No prices were discussed. He said talk it over with my friend who i brought with me. However my friend doesn't deal with this price range and only buys machines needing work off route. He said it will cost me premo dinero... ha.

Yes I played it and it plays very well. Top right flipper of TZ if weak. All original pcbs, including clock. Let me ask my buddy on credit dot.

Ha! I see what you did there!

#9 9 years ago

My guess is $6000 for TZ and $6500 for TOM
With the other games in his collection he knows current pricing and will likely want more.

Doostur the clock has already started ticking....hope you got a ton of cash hidden under the bed. Better get this deal done!

#16 9 years ago

The gentleman selling is not on the forums nor is he advertising anything he has for sale. He knows some of my good friends and has promised to give me first dibs. Im not worried about anyone else coming along. I am only interested in his TZ and TOM. When the deal is done I'll give out the details to anyone interested in anything else. PM what you're interested in and I'll shoot you a reply within a few days.

i may not be seeing it correctly from the photo direction, but i think you're missing a post between the right side of the trunk and the middle ramp.
it blocks the ball from getting stuck back there.
easy to add one, but worth checking into it.

hope that helps. ps. i'll buy the Cactus Canyon.

Good eye...seems to be a T nut on top of the PF? Seems a little opposite but I'm not familair with the game that well

oh wow... i just clicked on the photo, to see it larger.
that looks whack.
with that in the surface of the playfield like that, maybe there's a hole right there? still fixable though.
you might get miffed when the ball gets trapped in there.

#26 9 years ago

I looked at another playfield from google. This one appears to be the same or am I missing something.

ahh... could be a mod then.
seen folks with this and a post in there to block the ball from getting stuck.

i saw comments that it was a factory fix/change, so looks like not all of them have the post there?
hmmm... how 'bout that.

came across this service bulletin, which is a different approach --> http://mirror2.ipdb.org/files/2845/Bally_1995_Theatre_of_Magic_Service_Bulletin_82.pdf

I'd put a rough estimate at maybe $6k a piece or $11.5k if you buy them as a package.

No I think it's OK. Usually a T nut goes on the bottom of the PF, but the picture shows the top which is fine. There should be a post there, and you can see it snapped in half as the threaded side is still in the T nut.
Shouldn't be a big deal to get it out and replace.

#30 9 years ago

I own both games in similar condition. I would agree, "if" you can snag both TZ & TOM for 10 g's.. that would be a great deal for you.

Good luck!

I am restoring a theater now and this is what I've learned on the T nut by the trunk

what are you going to do with yours?

#33 9 years ago

What you need to do is get those of us that want some of his other stuff(Put me down for his FH! ) all together and come back at him with one offer for everything. Chances are that number will be so tempting that he'll have no choice but to do it.

thanks for posting the link. When I had my TOM I had thought it was missing a post there too. After reading what JPOP had written - so glad I didn't add a post.

i wonder if a short fat 'cone' shape object there would help deflect shots to that area, but also be a shape that would prevent the ball from pinning the box into a partial turn?
...Meaning, that if the ball was in that general zone & the box was turn into a tight corner there, that too much pressure would just force the ball up the short fat cone shape just enough to (hopefully) then fall forward, and worst case, fall backward into the trap.

another idea:
instead of a rigid form like a steel or plastic post there, maybe put a flexible post based on a spring design? Imagine a spring that comes up instead and maybe a rubber bumper ring around it?
...in theory, it's general mass could deflect the ball back down from shots to that area, but if ball got caught up near the spring post as the box corner was pinning the ball between box & spring post, the spring post would "give" and the ball would be pressured down or up into the trap by the box. basically/hopefully greatly reducing how often the ball gets caught up in there.

Ha! I see what you did there!

Actually, I think it was $8,500
