Someone just hit me up with a trade offer for his TAF for my AFMrSE listed on craigslist. What is a fair value on this machine. I know it's not equal, but not sure on value with playfield issues I can see.

I'll be the first to admit I never overvalue a TAF because I think it's just an average game at best, albeit with a very good theme.

That PF is has issues. Planking, right inlane wear, and I'll guess under the electric chair cliffy isn't pretty. Perhaps flipper button cab wear too? Poor targets, broken plastics, and in desperate need of a shop job.

I personally wouldn't value it over $4500, but know there are TAF lovers out there that would say $5K all day. I'm not one of those people and would suggest you start at $4K and not go a penny higher until you can see it and play it. Your AFMrSE is probably in tip top shape and this isn't, which should be considered as a variable and unknown that works against his value until seen.

The planking on that playfield would drive me nuts! Maby it’s just me.

Hard pass. Going from a new game to one with a playfield that looks like it was stored underwater will drive you nuts.

Where is the planking in the photos?

I see magnet burn, is that what you mean?

With that planking I would pass.

How do you tell that there is planking from the images? Is it the vertical lines in the yellow part of the playfield? I guess that would make sense if it was warping.

I can't believe most would value that at 4k. even with the planking I'd say that game is worth 5k all day long and would sell fast at that price.

I didn't see any evidence of magnet burn.

I get the theme clicks for many but for $5k+ I want to do more than “hit cousin it” and “mamushka” on a beat up PF. You can get just about any HUO Stern Pro for under $5k, and a lot of other B/W titles for less in nicer condition. YMMV but I’d explore all the other options instead for $5k.

I would say $5000 and there are a group of folks who would pay that, but if you are going to get a TAF I would spend $1000-$1500 more to get a better one.

On a trade like this, AFM SE has no condition variables and more level pricing being newer and still available NIB, so I would just ask him to make you an offer - TAF + what cash amount to you? Then you can see where he is coming from and decide. It is a lot easier for him to make an offer rather than you.

AFM is such great trade bait.

The cracking in the yellow/orange paint is directly over a magnet that got too hot. (check under the playfield and you will see the wood is brown around that magnet) Have seen that on other TAF in different magnet positions.

Value?? It's players condition, so depending on how it flips $4000 to $4500, or less if their are more issues. The good news is folks like 90's Bally/Williams projects so I bet you could find a buyer easily once you have had your fun.
