I have a really nice POTC. I listed it for $5600 obo Here on a local forum and I was curious if what I was asking was about right . Not real sure what the Pirates is going for these days haven’t seen one for sale in a while. It’s super clean, new motor on spinner, flippers are superstrong,, LEDs throughout, heart in the chest has been painted for more detail, green lights added to ship spotlights, And recently shopped . The cabinet is in amazing shape I can’t clean my house shoes only but it looks and plays like it. I just was curious if I was in the ballpark or if I’m just asking a little too much. I think I’m valued at about right but just curious of everyone’s else’s opinion. Thanks everyone have a great night

High for basically a stock potc imo .... i believe 4250-4750 is where they seem to move at....glws

#3 5 years ago

I had one that looked brand new and was bone stock. I listed for 4700 and ended up getting 4300 for it.

#4 5 years ago

Looks like so far my price is high . Keep the thoughts coming. .

#5 5 years ago

I sold my HUO POTC that was mint back in November for $4500.

#6 5 years ago

Don't think you can get $5k+ for Pirates without a Color DMD, Back Alley Mods, etc. Seems to trade hands for $4000-$5500. $5500 would be majorly pimped out.

#7 5 years ago

I've seen a few nice example listed over the past few months, and they seemed to struggle to get $4500. This title seemed to take a hit value wise after JJP's POTC was announced, not to mention a flood of people suddenly selling the title.

https://pinside.com/pinball/market/classifieds/archive?s=1&ad_machine_key=1166

One HUO stock game in my area went down to $4375 before it moved.

#8 5 years ago

anything up to about $4400 even if low play. it was $3750 new shipped.
new sterns are 5k + new.
thats why more modern used sterns sell for more.
it doesnt mean older sterns are suddenly more $$$$.

#9 5 years ago

These were going for around 5 until jjp announced their game, they’ve since fallen back to around 4200-4500 like others said.

#10 5 years ago

I just sold my routed but nice one to a friend for a friend price so I won’t through that price into the mix.

I would say list at $4600-$4700 for yours and it will sell for around there. Folks love them down in FL.

POTC can be deceiving because they all kind of look nice. My freind has a Chucke Cheese survivor that had like 40,000 plays that looks nice. Game from 2000-2010 from Stern were pretty durable.

I really enjoyed mine, but MET is MET. Fun game with a great theme that is great for families.

#11 5 years ago

HUO perfect machine $5000.
Mine has LCD display ($400), LED Ship Cannon Mod ($300), mirror blades ($100), Spanish ship wreck coins ($400)
About $6200, if I sold.
Love the game.

#12 5 years ago

between 4500-4800 for that one, since its stock, id say.

#13 5 years ago

The question is how fast do you wanna sell it?

Don't care how long - price at $5k
Really want to sell - price in mid-4s.
Need gone yesterday - low 4s.

#14 5 years ago

as others have said $4500 mint, low play HUO and that typically takes a little while to sell.

Seems to be quite a few nice examples out there (3-5 on the pinside market alone at any given time and another 5 on ebay and other sites) so anything less than HUO condition needs to be priced accordingly to move.

#15 5 years ago

If you valued it right you'd have interest, which it doesn't seem you do.

Lower the price until you get some interest.

#16 5 years ago

just take 50 bucks off a week until you get some responses. i had a very nice huo one with a touch up at the start button and i struggled to sell it. think i got around 4200 or 4300 and that was before the jjp announcement

#17 5 years ago

My mint, HUO with documentation sold for $4700 last year.

#18 5 years ago

4000-4300

Yup. It was mine and a beauty too, took over a month to get that price (after listing it twice), I was really surprised it took that long:

I speak from experience with selling one just after jjp pirates was announced. Prices dropped from 52 to 46 quite fast. They've fallen even more than that recently. Luckily I was able to trade mine and got what I paid out of it. The price shouldn't really have dropped as it's a great game, but the reality is demand went down. Good luck, I don't think you'll sell it above 5. Maybe try trading?

#21 5 years ago

Picked one up in January for my buddy. One owner HUO with only 125 plays, original software version. Bone stock but looked like it just came out of the box for $4500. Prices to a huge hit after JJP POTC was announced.

#22 5 years ago

Admittedly this is my best worst buy of all time. A few years ago I had a 10 year anniversary coming up and POTC is my wife's favorite pin. I had an offer out and an agreement for a nice HUO POTC at about 4.6k. The seller went MIA and I was left with no pin and no gift the day before. I contemplated driving 10 hours (closest one on the market at the time), but I ended up swallowing my pride and going to the local dealer knowing I was about to get bent over and say thank you at the same time.

Ended up buying an obviously routed pin for around 5.4k, damaged cab, flippers sticking, dirty as hell, missing parts, everything. But my wife was overjoyed to the point of tears when she saw it sitting in our game room and has steadily restored it back on her own. Ended up being worth every penny.

Sometimes it not what you pay, but what you get in return, great story thanks for sharing. I remember the look on my wifes face when she got an NIB IMVE for her birthday...priceless

#24 5 years ago

Well I really am in no rush on selling it , but I will lower the price and possible trade. My kids really like the game I just was wanting to possible get something new or just put the money in the bank . I was thinking they were selling around $5500 but I haven’t really seen any recently . I appreciate all the advice everyone and thank you

If I hadn't already bought one about a month or so earlier, I probably would've nabbed yours

I would hold tight at 5k.. if JJP keeps dragging their feet on shipping the new POTC or it isn’t as loved as some think it will be. It will sell, very underrated game especially at half the cost of the JJP.

I’m going to have both POtC in my man cave! Arghhhh!

I'll have both here too. My Stern one has the red compass center. It will be interesting to see the customers reaction. Many think the JJP version is a remake ?

Bump for the seller.

Great decision!! Keeping the wife happy and involved in the hobby is the way to go. Seems like most guys here need to follow your advice. Stern POTC is a fun pin, you shouldn’t have any trouble selling or trading it

It is a favorite among kids, not sure the new JJP will be as kid friendly. The stern has objectives that are pretty simple but the game is still a challenge to beat.

Bump....☠️

I think the big question in this is "How much do you have into this POTC?".

Do you have $5000+ in it and don't want to lose a lot on the sale? I mean $5500 can get you a NIB MET, SW, IMDN or GOTG delivered to your door. Yeah not all folks like the new Sterns but chances are those same folks aren't looking for a 10 year old Stern either.

Not bustin your chops. Just wondering where mid $5000's is coming from?

#32 5 years ago

With the JJP fiasco on the 3 or 1 spinning discs/disc, I would think Sterns should go up in price. Sterns is a great playing game and probably the coolest toy you can get (knocking sails down, ship rocking to taunt you and then finally sinking the ship). If someone offered a JJP for my Stern, I wouldn't trade.
Just my opinion.

#33 5 years ago

Maybe the value will rebound when people wise up and realize Stern Pirates is the one to own.

Maybe one day the light of POTC will pierce through the dark night @ Stern

Even without that crazy disk... its still a far greater pin than sterns.

Do you know how much more they are adding to the game or how early the code is? Finally played it and really no clips form the movies that I could tell which was weird. Just waiting to plug that stuff in?

I don’t think that aspect is going to get better. I hope I’m wrong but this has been my main beef and I’m not saying it needs tons of clips. The few they use just need to be a bit more exciting and relevant to the chapters/movie your playing.

In terms of code depth yes but the fun factor remains to be seen on the JJP.

Sterns game is fun and most non pinheads I have over gravitate to that machine because it isn’t an overwhelming experience. Something to be said about that. It also has a disc, a chest that opens and closes and a ship to sink. Not to shabby considering this was all done 10 years ago!

#39 5 years ago

Does the stern or Jjp pirates have callouts from the actors in the movies?

Quoted from Psw757:

Interesting. Didn't play/watch much of it but it would start a mode and then just show avatars of the characters that you were trying to collect. Seems a bit weird/empty of clips but I haven't been paying attention to the updates so I don't know much aboot it.

No on Stern, one on JJP.

As far as voice actors go, the fake Johnny Depp on Stern Pirates did a great job. Very convinving. Unlike the Guardians voice actors.

All of the voice actors except Elizabeth did great I thought. Elizabeth has that phony Irish accent and in the movie she was English.
