It turns out that he has the machine tied up in another possible deal, so he has neither accepted nor refused my offer.
Seems like the universe is sending me multiple warning signs, and I should probably just walk away.
(I always get so close to scoring a Scared Stiff, and then something falls apart. Sad Fatsquatch is sad.
