I've got a really nice original AFM that has been in home use since 1999. I really like the game but my wife says she wants a TOM. Just curious what I could get for it since I'm thinking about trying to appease the wife. SOL hole has no wear, but it has a cliffy on it anyway. The playfield is perfect from what I can see. The cabinet has no fade. There's a small little blemish in the decal on the left side the size of a nickelin the orange that looks like it might be adhesive that just rubbed on the cab. Plays 100%. Also has a color DMD and the bill ung saucer mod.

Thanks for the help!

I think at least a million dollars, that think looks nice.

Lol - my shitty cell phone camera doesn't do it justice unfortunately combined with the dim lighting in my house.

Well, it's worth more than a TOM. (To me, TOM is a turd.)

I'd say it's worth at least 7K, without clearer pics.

#5 7 years ago

Wow beautiful example and my favorite pin. Id say between 7-8k considering the condition and nice mods from what i saw from looking before i got mine.

#6 7 years ago

$7500 maybe. You should sell it before 10/12 if you're going to sell.

#7 7 years ago

I wouldn't sell it to buy a TOM.

No hurry, a beautiful original will always trump a remake.

Totally agreed but there no denying the remakes have driven down price.

Y nothing is better than a nice original u can play now . Plus this will be cheaper with nice mods compared to a new one

I know which i don't understand bc ill gladly pay more for a beautiful original instead of a remake any time

Again, agreed. But look at what happened to MM. Not everyone has the original is better mindset (I do) and AFMr will take buyers from the original. Less demand means prices go down. This is a really fantastic example and should withstand the price drop fairly well. I'm just saying sell it now to ensure top dollar.

Absolutely, right there with ya!

Very true... The remakes basically hurt the price of the beaters but not so much the nice originals, HUO's or restored ones.

Yea but mm were just stupid priced before the remake so they needed to come back to reality lol. Afm can usually be had for 8k or under and thats with color dmd and many other mods so i dont think a remake will hurt it if a nib one is 8k or more .

Actually, that's a real good point. Thanks!

#16 7 years ago

Plus i personally dont want a board system that u really cant work on and all the light board's for the inserts.... no thank you . The only thing i do like about the remakes is the nice color upgrade and shaker but im very happy with color dmd and pinbits shaker.

#17 7 years ago

I've actually toyed around with the idea of selling out just because of the remake but my AFM is super nice and in great shape. No ghosting inserts which are easy to read. Bill Ung saucer mod installed. Color DMD already. Lot's of reasons to simply keep it for if they price AFMr at $8,000 I really don't see where it would hurt the resale of really nice original AFMs much or at all. Now, beat up AFMs...yes, I think that might really hurt their sales. Looks like OPs AFM is super nice and has been in his home for 17 years! I would think a pin like he has should fetch a premium price.

The color upgrade looks great but personally I don't think it looks right for these older classics... color DMD fits much better IMO.

Thanks everyone. I'm surprised there was so much hate for TOM. I've never owned one but thought the gameplay wad on par with afm.

I have a beautiful TOM and I dont like it that much.

TOM is very boring compared to AFM. A polished turd. Good players exploit the left orbit strategy, but even without that the ruleset is meh at best.

What if AFMr is $7k?

No doubt a nice original is better than a remake. But it won't stop potential buyers from saying "...but I can get a BRAND NEW one for less!" I would argue that the value of true beat-up originals suffer least because there's always people with less money and more time who are happy to put parts and labor into bringing back a beater.

Guess we will find out pricing soon enough. One thing is for sure, they are not going to price it $4,000 less than the market for current AFMs like they did when they announced MMr.

I like how MM and new games make an AFM @ $7500 seem NOT stupidly priced! I mean, really?

AFM is 10x the game as TOM is.

Afm is one the best pins imo and is a bargain in this condition and with mods for 7-8k . A mm or mb in this condition with mods wld be 9-10k . Not sure y but good for us buyers at the moment lol

Sadly - breakshot is no longer with us... It has moved on with it's life. I think it will be happier now with a family that will love and appreciate such a collectable cream puff.

Btw - I'm stopping by soon I want to play that boring ass TOM you have.

#35 7 years ago

Solid games with reasonable flaws were going for ~6300-6600. I'd expect a minty one to go for 7-7.5 plus your upgrades... Maybe closer to 8000. I'd bet it would grab 7500 pretty easy if you held your ground

#36 7 years ago

Has the only 2 mods you need to put on that game. 8K all day.

Agreed with the mods but i just put the gozmod in my mothership and man its pretty sweet .. 8k for this pin is a deal compared to new 8k pins.

Whoa, I didn't know about that mod. That is pretty sweet! Thanks for mentioning this one. I may have to purchase that!

Yea check it out .... i ordered directly from him bc it was only place that had any. Love the brite green look bc everything else is red but when you hit the ship or shield it turns red ....very nice little touch to add to the gameplay.

Matt, you can pop over anytime if you want to play TOM and get a feel - game is near perfect in condition with tons of upgrades.

I totally forgot you had one. I'm definitely going to do that.

So just ruled the universe in the middle of my victory laps the door swung open cause the key was in it from me adjusting the volume, coils died, game over . Must know I was considering getting rid of her.
