Looking to put an offer on a Johnny Mnemonic and wanted to see what people were thinking for this one. Pics to come shortly but based on the description, taking into account It will need shopped, the ramp needs replaced, the hand magnet may need some love, and while I am not looking to flip this I know within.....a year I'll want to rotate it out for about what I have in it. SO thoughts?

The cabinet is faded but the playfield is in nice shape. I replaced lights an rubbers a year ago. The ramp on the right side is cracked. The hand does work although on occasion it will drop ball. Not always but every once an a while.

I think we really could use pictures but somewhere between 1600-1800, probably towards the low end of that.

I saw a nice one sit here in Nor Cal on CL for awhile, went down to $1700 before it finally sold or was removed. It had major fade but otherwise seemed pretty serviceable (don't remember any issues with ramp or glove).

I realy haven't kept up on what a nice Johny sells for but here is one for sale in my area for $2200

$1700 seems fair if it needs decals and needs a ramp (assuming both those aspects are so far gone you'd consider replacement the only option). Flakey glove problems come up on all JMs eventually, so probably not much of an issue regarding the price. Pics would help.

Very nice one with minimal fade sold on pinside around expo time 2014. Seller was asking 1800, took a week to sell.

As always, lots of math involved.....NICE ones go for 18......crappy ones are a steal at 17....ha. I'll see what pics come in. As always don't want to drown in repairs but also don't want to screw anyone

Still looking for the ramps and it looks like it's not super available. BUT that's just a quick look. Let's see what waiting provides.

#9 9 years ago

If your gonna be turning it over, I live around your neck of the woods and I wouldn't get into it for anymore than 1500 ish based on description, maybe lower depending on how cracked the ramp is or any other possible issues. But, like others have said, pics are needed.

It's tough. I COULD fall in love with it. In that case I am ok with what I have to do. We'll see....pics and a visit will prob give us some info. For now we're at 1400-1800 based on the pics. AND.....who knows what else I might find on it..... "Ohhh yeah...sometimes it smokes....that's a pretty cool effect they have there....right..!!"

Would you all agree that for a fully functioning machine we're at 1800-2100?

#12 9 years ago

For a NICE fully functioning 1800ish

#13 9 years ago

For that, I'd say it should be super clean, flippers nice and snappy, and 100% working. Cab fade is the norm on this title as well as minimal wear on the playfields.

#14 9 years ago

Ok so we're more at sub- 1800 (prob sub-1600) for a game that needs work.....ok. That helps a lot. Thanks all!

Quoted from Snurdley:

And just to think, in another thread we're saying JD and JM are the same price.

Still $1400, right guys?

#16 9 years ago

In the end it REALLY depends on what it's worth to you. I have a SOF. I know some people would pay 2k+ for it.....for some it's $900. Beany Babies!!!!

The reality is most Johnnys have hand issues.

I haven't seen a basically functional one sell under $1700 in a couple years. I also haven't seen one sell over $2400 in that time frame (except maybe one pristine example)

Faded, with hand issues and other minor issues - $1700. Faded, but functional - $2000. Not faded, fully functional - $2300.

Another point of reference - I'm picking up a fully functional one with minimal fade but a ramp that needs to be replaced for around $2100 next month.

I agree most have hand issues but it is 99.5% of the time the y and x nuts. I think they are around $9 (not cheap) and a pain to put on the first time you do it. Not a big deal though and you get a lot of usage after that needs to be done again if you lightly lubricate the screw threads periodically.

I like the DMD games...snarfing is difficult but definitely fun!

In the last six months I've watched Johnnys in the midwest go from anywhere between 1800 to 2300. I think anything less than that is currently a pipe dream out here. ymmv (collin's assessment is spot on)

#20 9 years ago

Nice JM's are 2000 these days. I'd say "nice" being normal cab fade, and perfect playfield.

Exceptional JM's up to 2400.

Cool. Yeah Collin....hoping to beat you to the punch!!! We'll see when I get some pics. The guy may not even have the game, ha! Thanks all!!
