Some touch up was done where PF had registration errors and 3 coats of clear put on. All work was done by professional car restorers. PF had some crazing in original paint and clear, so the clear we put on sucked into those cracks. We were going to let it dry and go back and sand and clear later until level but never got around to it. That was about 4 years ago. PF has been stored in a climate controlled room on a perfectly level surface. Was going to send it out and have it finished, then sell it, but thinking about just selling it as is. Thanks in advance for input!

Dan

Texted that ? do the guy who did it, should know in a minute, not lacquer tho. Also did a Cyclone PF at the same time and it came out perfect, but didn't have any crazing either.

Glasurit.

I believe so, he's busy racing at Daytona Speedway now so kinda busy. I know it was a "Green" shop, pretty sure he said it was a water based urethane.

Quoted from BigB:

Probably looking between $600-$800.

Thanks!

I asked the painter about the glasurit clear and this is his response: Solvent based. Never heard of clear being referred as a single stage but I guess it technically is. 2-3 coats. - It is for sale btw, make an offer if interested.

Never heard of "clear" being referred to as single stage, didn't say "line". Should've edited his response since I called it single stage clear when asking him what he used. Too many things going on at once today and seriously lacking sleep.

It didn't wrinkle, it sucked into the cracks where there was crazing. That's why we just left it to dry. Just needs to be cleared and sanded a couple times to build up the low areas while taking down the high area. I did a Cyclone PF at the same time and had no problem, because it had no crazing. So, no reaction, clear just seeped into cracks in paint (crazing).

Quoted from kruzman:

The only person who is going to pay 600-800 for that is someone who is rich and has to have it.

Works for me

Quoted from vid1900:

Did it "suck in" on the first coat or the 3rd?
I'm still trying to make sense of what I'm seeing in pic 704.

I would imagine it did, but I wasn't there. Where there is crazing, the clear seeped into the wood, past the paint, through the cracks. Makes sense to me and wasn't surprised at all when I got it back. Now that there is clear in those cracks, this will no longer happen, so just needs to be sanded and cleared a couple times to finish. Probably looks worse in the pics, dunno. Think I found a home for it so no worries. Appreciate the bumps and getting me to explain everything, I was deliriously tired when I posted this
