Looking for opinions on what a fair asking price would be for this F-14. I believe it to be HUO but who knows for sure I guess.

I posted about it when I first picked it up in the owners thread: https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/f14-tomcat-owners-club-fans-also-welcome/page/76#post-5021606

These days everyone shoots the moon. Seems like price check threads are tough these days. What you sold your for last year doesn't apply this year.

#5 2 years ago

That is the most amazing beautiful F14 I’ve ever seen. If near AZ I would buy now!!

#6 2 years ago

Since I dont want it, let's go with $5K.

#7 2 years ago

Total guess would be 3500, maybe more. You are basically looking for the highest one that’s recently sold. I know of a restored one that got more than that but honestly, it was much nicer, new everything and powder coated everything. (Sold in 2019.)

Red powdercoated cabinet hardware....? Sold not too far from here (Cincy/Dayton/Columbus area?)

Seems on the money to me.

Ask $6000 to be safe!

Well with those 3 lights on top, add another $2K. Toppers are ALL the rage right now!!!

#11 2 years ago

I wouldn’t let it go for a penny less then $5k and bet you can get more if patient.

HUO example of iconic game is worth more than a restored, modded version to many collectors.

Let's all remember the game being discussed here everyone.

F14 is a good game, not incredible...and has no ramps.
And a bunch were made.

$3,500..maybe $4,000 makes sense to a true fan.
More - and then it's a "Think of what else I could buy" type of thing.

#13 2 years ago

I'm thinking I'd pay $4,500 for this, so there's probably someone out there willing to pay $6k or even more.

If you want top dollar, I'd create an ad for $6,999 and I would not make a forum thread about it to keep the jealous people from driving you nuts. Then I'd sit on it and wait for a couple weeks. Either someone will give you what you're asking for, or someone will make you an offer.

This game is still pretty popular, despite the number of them out in the wild. They get beat up pretty good and the inserts are always distorted. Finding a good one is nearly impossible. Finding a HUO is a holy grail type of thing. This is a rarity.

If you want that top dollar, 6999. If you want it gone asap, 5k.

I am with you, at the end of the day it is still a F14. i would go $3500 tops

#16 2 years ago

I would ask 5-6k.
I tend to agree that it’s an F-14 so anything over 3k is ridiculous. But I’m not your buyer. Someone that’s looking for an original in this condition may never have the opportunity to buy one again.

#17 2 years ago

I think $3k is top end for unrestored F14. But if you are greedy and have no shame by all means take some of the other advice given here.

I’d love to see your real estate listings, which are surely all priced slightly under market to avoid any pretense of greed.

I'm not so sure that's very fair.
Any one of us that lands a game in this condition will naturally see what it can fetch in the wild, especially in this crazy market.

It's brains not greed if you find a true F14 fan who wants, and then use the funds to buy yourself a better game.

Saw a routed F-14, in good condition, pulled from a bar and sold for $2500 late last year here in Vegas. Was being advertised on offer up and craigslist. gotta assume the machine had several thousand plays on it so $2500 would be a real price for a "heavily played" F-14 I guess

I stand by my statement. The extreme gouging some sellers are currently attempting is greedy and shameless. There are still many sellers who would prefer to give that "true F14 fan" a fair deal as opposed to a reaming. I sold an F14 almost this nice 2 years ago for $1800. So, yeah, I think $3000 is about right for this pin, maybe even a little more, but those suggesting a nice original F14 is worth as much as Fathom and Creech are nuts.

I actually do price my listing slightly below market value. Good guess.

Historically Pinside stood apart from Ebay as a place for collector-to-collector pricing, a place where the extreme greed and/or cluelessness of Ebay sellers was mocked and shunned. But sadly Pinside is now looking more and more like Ebay, or worse, with many even rooting for the shift and discouraging opposition to it. So, carry on and ruin the last good marketplace for collector-to-collector pricing. And bring the lube when you're on the purchase end.

While I always wanted to believe this, it’s very rarely true. Restored games sell for more in nearly every case.

That could change some day but it’s just not true yet. Believe it or not, I’ve sold HUO games in the past and people “restored” them because they weren’t perfect enough!
