Looking at a few of the actual selling prices on the west coast within the past month or so:
3550: decent, but not pristine, needed some work
3700: decent, mechanically sound, not pristine, strong player
2700: decent, not pristine, needed some minor work
2000: condition unknown
There was also one with some major cabinet issues, not sure what that sold for.
I bought the $3700 one. Why? Because I was tired of looking, especially after passing on games with wiring hack jobs, burnt connectors, smoke damage, worn playfields.....etc....
Probably won't get my $$ back on it, but I'm playing it, and my kids love it.
Quoted from Boiler415:I'd just like to point out that getting something restored does not necessarily mean HEP and the accompanying price tag. While the high end restore guys have a reputation of being the best for a reason, you can always get a game in nice shape that plays great, or get a restoration that looks great from another source for less $$$. A beater game and a HEP game are at opposite ends of the spectrum in both quality and price. There's a lot of room in the middle to find something nice that won't bankrupt you.
I agree with this. If you are new to the hobby and are just getting your feet wet don't start at the top nor at the bottom . The top can be slower and expensive for someone just starting out the bottom can be disappointing and frustrating. The middle is the best place to start and you can see where it leads from there. The mid level game can be taken to a high level later once you know that is what you want to do but it can/should work and be enjoyable to start with.
Funhouse always seems so volital in pricing. They never stay on CL long.....I think if u can get one for 3500 or under....your not gonna take a loss. Obviously, u inspect for wear, working condition, etc.
I bought mine a few years ago for 2650. Didn't enjoy the pin much and traded for a sweet Congo.
I feel fh is a bit overrated. Great toy, but overrated.

Only over-rated because it is overpriced currently for what it is, and it has heavy nostalgia factor.
Huge nostalgia factor. I was done in by Rudy, and that's what originally captivated me. And the theme is killer. Just didn't fall in love with it. Lawlor pins and I just don't mix for some reason.

I lean toward Oursler designs for whatever reason. I feel the same about Lawlor games. Even though all designers have trademark things (Outsler's left side ramps), Lawlor games feel more homogeneous to me than Oursler's. When I play TAF I feel like I'm playing FH in reverse. It was my reasoning for selling my JP. I felt like I had the game already in Funhouse and wanted something completely different.
