Quoted from Mitch:Nice great game I love mine. Just wish I coul get the "ramp" to work right.
Have mine bent down so the ball drags which means it gets stuck sometime but if i loosen it the ball launches off the wireform and back onto the playfeild.
This one does that intermittently, Ill look into it and see what works. Do you have the right coil in there?
Hey guys, quick question here. I have a project dolly parton that has a acid damaged mpu. I have a nice and clean stern MPU-200 that I have laying around and I was hoping to use in for that project. My main question is if this will work if I jumper it right and put the correct roms in? Thanks for any suggestions!
Quoted from Gott_Lieb:It will work, but my motto has always been not to waste a -200 in a Bally. There are too many Bally boards that are floating around.
Jim
Ok I'm glad to hear it will work! After reading the pinwiki it did seem like a waste. Anyone interested in trading a good -35 board for my mpu-200? It came out of a nine ball it looks like.
Quoted from Mitch:Got a nos stern pop bumper assembly today.
What games used a plastic ring and rod assembly.
[quoted image][quoted image]
All games post Seawitch, that was the last one with metal rings
Quoted from Chalkey:Maybe I'm not tracking what you're saying but a new flipper mech will have more bounce because it doesnt have the slop in it the old linkage will from decades of use. That being the case what you think of as feeling right is just being used to playing with worn out mechs.
What he's saying, is the old linkage material never wears out... I can attest that the old ones I swapped out were perfect, so I put them back in after.
Quoted from Chalkey:The bakelite definitely eggs out both around both the roll pin and the pawl over time.
Stern doesn't use Bakelite
Quoted from dothedoo:The old style mechs had bakelite links. The later mechs used plastic.
There ya have it. The Bakelite links definitely will wear out while the plastic usually doesn't.
Quoted from Methos:You know what we need? The price to pick up on these early Sterns - Magic, Nugent, Wild Fyre.
Got a Wild Fyre I need to move.
Nugent commands a higher price than the others you mentioned, probably 1.5-2k. the other to probably 1200 fully shopped and working
Quoted from dothedoo:I think you just need more wire. I can lend you some if you want.[quoted image]
Ok mine looks tame now. What in the hell is all the wiring for?
Quoted from Mitch:After a second look I found the coil numbers in the manual. Sorry everyone.
Also have to love the old stern flipper plates. This one is out my meteor.
[quoted image]
I might have have the correct flipper plate, do you have picture of what its supposed to look like?
EDIT: Looking at the responses to your picture, I thought the picture you posted was the wrong one. Let me check my stash and ill let you know.
So the last thing on this lightning is the cable that connects the speech board to the lamp driver is missing completely. It seems simple enough to make a new one, but I want to make sure that it will be wired up correctly. Is it as simple as pin 1 on the speech board to pin 1 on the lamp driver board connector? Thanks for any help!
Quoted from Gott_Lieb:Yes, the wiring harness is 1 to 1 from the speech board to the lamp driver board.
Jim
Thank you! Made a cable and I now have my insert lights, but still no speech. I installed the jumper between pin 5 and the top of c14 but still no dice. Any suggestions?
Quoted from canoncitypb:Why a jumper there? I can't find a post that talks about that jumper.

Quoted from Mitch:Loaded up on classic stern parts this weekend, got a couple nos backglasses, galaxy, freefall, splitsecond and spinners from mayfair, bought 3 populated playfeilds, lightning, dracula, trident. Also got 2 coin doors, widebody lockbar, and some flipper mechs and pop bumpers. Lastly a big game playfield nice shape, topside populated.
Where did you get this stuff?
Anyone have a spare set of lightning playfields laying around? Condition doesn't matter, im after the inserts. Just bought a game missing all the inserts. Thanks!
Quoted from Whridlsoncestood:Anyone have a pair of yellow pop bumper caps for a catacomb. No idea what these go to but they don’t belong on here.[quoted image]
Those Belong on a Bullseye 301
image-7 (resized).jpgNice to see Freefall get some discussion around here. I used to have problems with the ball Walker on mine. Balls would jump over it and all sorts of shit. What worked for me, was super cleaning the switch and adjusting it very close. My Feeefall has spent several months on location since and hasn't had a single problem with the ball walker. Hope this helps
