I picked up a f2k in August and just grabbed a sbm last week.
I find myself playing those 2 a lot more than my Gotg pro
I got in june. Really liking my classic ss pins. Spinners galore

Quoted from msarac:

I assume you used the tape to make it easier to remove lamp sockets? If so, here is an alternative to consider:
https://www.alliedelec.com/product/keystone-electronics/7312/70923083/?keyword=7312
Mounting all the sockets with one of these underneath first, then soldering on the braid, makes it very easy to run exactly where you need and keep short opportunities to a minimum. Plus they are a lot easier to solder on compared to the socket tabs.[quoted image]

Order these from mouser.
A lot cheaper.
Just ordered 100 delivered for 15 and.change.

Id love to do a new build of a dragonfist.
That would be a great project.

But is it possible without cannibalizing a classic stern
Not a big fan of that way and would rather restore salvageable
Classics.

Just my own opinion.

I can build my own cabinet which would be a great learning experience if I have the dimensions.
Hopefully when playfields are available it could be possible.

Quoted from reconsider59:

Hey everyone,
Getting started on a Quicksilver scratch build (largely inspired by HoakyPoaky's excellent thread, thank you!), and while I'm waiting on a few things to really start building, I'm trying to figure out a few small part questions; hoping the group can assist me.
I'm truly building from scratch, in that I'm not modifying a donor-game. So, a question re: the light-panel: what kind of hardware / hinge is used to attach it to the backbox?
Also, has anyone figured out a good replacement/modification for a coin door—as in, one that can be sourced easier than lucking out and finding a used on on ebay or elsewhere? I'm building it in a new EZPinball cabinet, so the panel is cut specifically for the classic Stern sized door. I understand I could use a Chicago Coin door (also impossible to find, I'm discovering...), or a Stern Electronics arcade door. While I see a lot of the arcade doors on ebay, I understand that I'd need to modify the wiring to make one of the coin-rejects into the "start" button, or, cut a hole to add it. I'd just love to hear how others have gone about addressing the "no donor door" problem.
Thanks!

guy i bought my dolly project from has a stern coin door on louisville craigslist.
i know not local but thought id throw it out there.

Quoted from rottenrobert1313:

Just got done reading this whole thread. What a great source of information.
In the spring I picked up a Meteor. This is my second Meteor that I've owned. Traded my last one a few years ago and missed it ever since. Also had a Big Game that I should've kept. Well anyway...the classic sterns started falling from the sky for me. Picked up a F2K, then a Galaxy, a Trident, a Wild Fyre, and last a Lightning. All with in a few months. I've collected 6 classic sterns in a row and I'm thinking about turning my Wild Fyre into a Quicksilver. I can't explain it and really don't need to as the love for these classics is strong with everyone here. But they are just a blast to play.
Here's a few pictures. I've shopped Meteor and Galaxy and I'm currently working F2K. Next will be Trident and I'll order the new code that Mr Hamil put together for both Trident and Galaxy. I have his code in Meteor and it's amazing. Highly recommended.

Its too bad So many meteors and galaxies are being
Frankensteined into stargazers,quicksilvers etc.

None of my business but I hate to see an original game from the past essentially erased.

Just my opinion and I'll take the arrows.

#7111 1 year ago

I don't want to come off as super pious with my previous post but I would love to build
a dragon fist so how can I do that? Haha.

It's the one stern that I covet more than any other.

Quoted from KSUWildcatFan:

There's something about Williams games that just works *perfectly* with hardtops. I loved how my Space Shuttle plays. I love how my High Speed plays. Pinbot is good. I've not played them myself but I hear F-14, Blackout, Comet, and Taxi are all magnificent. But as for Bally.. 0/2 from my personal experience. There's just something I don't like about it and I can't seem to figure out why. Could be also that I despise Mata Hari in general, so really I'm 0/1. I dunno. I've not heard of anyone hardtopping a Catacomb yet...that seemed like such a weird offering to begin with.
I will 100% hardtop this F2K if they offer one for sale. Granted, from first glance my backglass doesn't appear to be particularly wonderful either so I guess I'd be buying a new one of those also....

Concur on that. Picked up a sweet hardtopped black knight a few years ago and just love the play.
Clear coated 2 flashes and was some of the best pinball I've played.

Buy a cameo and make your own.
When I built my red meteor I did with custom colors.
I don't know how many times I've used my cameo for my collection either for stencils or decals or whatever.
They have all kinds of different mediums to use also for designs.
It's a fantastic tool.

I just made my own matte orange decal for my new led Zep premium to put on the airship last night.
