Would there be any interest in Tech Charts for these Stern Electronics game?
Just like the Bally AS-2518 games.
See the example of Bally - Black Jack.
A nice list with all the fuses, lamps with their SCR named, coils with their transistor named.
I think I would need your help too.
I've heard there are a lot of errors in the schematics.

Quoted from cottonm4:

It would be handy to have. I would have a request with the controlled lamps chart. In your Black Jack example, all of the controlled lamps are listed alphabetically. A cross reference chart that listed the lamps as wire pair groups grouped by the first wire color would also be nice.
For example (from Blackjack) :
1st player.....................red-blue
credit indicator..............red-yel
Player 17......................red-blue
Player 21......................red-yel
Saucer 3X.....................red-white
Spinner 1000.................red-grn

2nd player ....................blu-yel
Bonus 2K......................blu-wht
Shoot again...................blu-yel
Saucer 5X......................blu-wht

When all the Tech Charts are done, I will upload this info the www.pinwiki.com too.
I've already done this for the Bally 6803 games.
In this listing you can sort on wire color just like you asked.
For example Strange Science: http://www.pinwiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=Strange_Science
Just click on the wire color column...
It's hard to do this with a paper document.
The files I put on my website are intended to be printed and kept with the machine.

Quoted from WeatherbyMAG:

Dracula needs one feature lamp socket replaced, otherwise it's good to go. Now on to making rest of machine look as nice as the PF.

I noticed that your score and instruction cards are a bit too small.
Did you changing the settings when printing?
Be sure to set scaling to 100% or "no scaling".
Select the right paper size.
I used A4 in the file, but printers in the USA use letter format.

Quoted from Thrillhouse:

After chasing gremlins all afternoon on a project Galaxy I finally got it up and playing correctly. The only issue I have is in attract the score displays don't show the high score to date, it alternates between the last game played score and then shows "2 5 7" instead. Is this normal like when Big Game flashes all 7's on the displays?

Clear the memory of the high score location.

#1859 4 years ago
Quoted from Thrillhouse:

Thanks inkochnito, I'm running an altek while trouble shooting it and I'm pretty sure I already cleared it. Btw do you need any scans of the score cards or back box sheets for your site?

Thank for the offer, but I think I've got them all.
If you go to my website http://www.inkochnito.nl and do a search for "galaxy" you will see all the card images I have.
Then you can see if you have any cards I missed when I had the game here.

Can someone with an Orbitor game help me out please?
I'm working on the two larger backbox cards.
There are parts of the text missing from the scan I received.
A photo would be great.
It doesn't have to be perfectly straight, just readable.

Attached is a the card I need to see...

Thanks,
Peter

Quoted from Isochronic_Frost:

I’m pretty sure mine is perfect and I can take a picture/scan of that, in return can you get me pictures of all the papers staples to the inside of the game cabinet? Someone ripped all mine out

I'm woking on it....

#2034 4 years ago
Quoted from Isochronic_Frost:

My cards inside the backbox are different specifically say “Orbitor” on them. Here is a picture and if these are correct or some other version the factory was shipping I can scan them for you.[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

This Game Adjustment card is a different card.
I could use a scan too, thank you.
And the size of the card would be appriciated.
I'll add this to the file I'm working on or as a seperate file.

The other two cards I already have.

Quoted from Isochronic_Frost:

According to my amassed references from Orbitor 1 pictures across the web, the large card you are looking for was stapled in the bottom right.[quoted image]

Could you be so kind to take some close-up photo's for me please?
I just need to read the text.

Quoted from Chalkey:

The top row of segments is out in one of my displays. I followed Kukpa's guide. All connections reflowed, the associated transistor and the chip both replaced as well as the 100k resistors. There is continuity from the last pin that appears to connect to the top segments to all the other components in the chain. The display is certified as the issue through swap out to other slots and cross verification. Anything else to look at before I give up?

Look very closely at the connections between the glass layers of the display.
Sometimes you can see the connection is black (tarnished) or the metal connection is just plain gone.
End of life for the display....

Quoted from HHaase:

Ok, what am I missing here? I keep blowing Q4, for my outhole coil.
I can trip it by grounding the tab on Q4, and it fires nice and strong, so I know the wiring is good as is the coil voltage.
All other coils are working fine.
Last time I replaced Q4, the coil fired 2-3 times during test, and looks like the transistor went dead again now.
Won't fire either in the game or via test mode.
Nothing is shorting out around the outhole, I replaced the old aluminum sleeve with a nylon one just in case.
New diode on the coil, wiring isn't backwards.
Never had this kind of repeated transistor failure before. But I'm also new to the Bally/Stern SDB. So not sure if I'm missing something.
-Hans

Is Q4 blowing to pieces or just stop functioning?
Did you reflow the print headers at the driver board?
Sometimes you cannot see the hair fractures...
In this case it should be visible.

Measure the Q4 with a multimeter at diode setting and compare with the other transistors.
If this is oke, replace the CA3081 at U1.

Hoping someone can help. The GI on my Galaxy works fine but the relay will not trigger for attract mode or when Galaxy is spelled. Relay is new. Not sure what wire triggers it.

Does this help?
Soon there will ba a Tech Chart for Galaxy too.

Just for the record.....
There are now Tech Charts available for all the M-100 games.
You can find them in the Tech Chart section or the Stern Electronics section on my website http://www.inkochnito.nl

I also added all the Tech Chart information to the Pinwiki site, http://www.pinwiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=Bally/Stern#Stern
Just click on the game name.

I've send three files to the ipdb.
The game specific schematics for Nine Ball, Cheetah and Star Gazer.
(SDU, LDA, Playfield Wiring schematic)
Now available on the ipdb.

#2863 4 years ago

Can anyone help find the correct wire colors for the Viper lamps?
The manual on the ipdb does not have the schematic.
The information I do have is from the German manual.
The colors I used for the Tech Chart are based upon the use of wires in other games.
This seems a bit like standard wires, but there are differences from time to time.
I would like to get things right.

With my next website update, all the Stern Electronics games will have a Tech Chart available.
Please help me to help others....

A heads up for the people in this group.....
I've added Tech Charts for ALL Stern Electronics games to my website http://www.inkochnito.nl
Look in the Stern Electronics section or the Tech Chart section.
If you find any errors on these charts, please let me know and I will correct them.
I could still need some help getting the lamp wires for Viper correct.

Quoted from cottonm4:

I am looking at the one for Big Game. It looks nice, however, when I print it out, both ends of the print are cut off. To get the entire page to print, I have to scale it down to 60% on my printer and then int is too small to read. You got lots of good info. packed in. Maybe it is just something with my printer that I do not know how to compensate for.

I think you've taken the file from the Stern Electronics section.
In the Tech Chart section it mentioned that these files are in tabloid (A3) size.
You can see it in the properties of the file when printing.
You wil have to use a larger paper (and printer) or adjust to paper size when printing.
Tabloid (A3) size makes it more readable, but you can always reduce the size.
Just like the Tech Charts in Bally/Williams games.
Nearly all my Tech Charts are in tabloid (A3) size.

You can also print the file in two parts and tape them together.
In the pdf file you can change to view.
First print the regular left side in portrait mode.
Then turn the page 180 degrees on the screen and print the other part.
That way you will have your tabloid (A3) size Tech Chart.

Wanted to find these for years, finally had the time. Didn't see it anywhere else so: The 500 point Ace is SW 22, the endless scoring Ace is SW 38.

I've added this info to the http://www.pinwiki.com site.
I've also changed my Tech Chart accordingly, but left the "not used" info there too.

Thanks for the 12G-2-126-22 and 12G-2-126-22A cards.

I could also use the cards which mention the time bonus award in the first line.
Like this one, but with a card number on it.

Quoted from Tsskinne:

Also don’t know if this helps or not but just realized on boot up 09 is displayed on player one display. The rest say 00. I’m using a Nvram.weebly board set on the whole machine, née harness from Shawn. Also I don’t see the coin door switches on the matrix. I’m wondering if I have something on there missing a diode or something.
[quoted image]

Which software version do you have in your game?
09 is a version of Oliver Okaegi files.
Adjusted rules and Freeplay.
Once you play a game it does not show anymore until reboot.

Quoted from cottonm4:

First, all drop assemblys have a large coil on the side to raise the targets. These are the large blue B24-1400 coils.
Regarding the C1-34-3400 memory coils: Each "active" drop target will have its own 34-3400 coil.
Meteor has 6. The B/P calls for 6
Galaxy has 4 ( so I am told) . B/P calls for 4.
NB has 8 targets, however, Nine Ball has B/P call out for 7 memory coils only. I have not lifted my NB glass and removed the drop assy. to physically verify.
F2K has 5. I can see and feel them on my F2K assy. However, the F2K B/P does not call out how many of the memory coils are installed. the B/P leaves you guessing.
Cheetah manual calls for 4 memory coils only. I do not know which drop does not get a coil. I don't know how the assembly is wired and would have to study the prints
It has been several years since I bought my populated Cheetah play field. My memory fails me but in hide site, I don't think my Cheetah play field came to me with the 5-bank target assy. I have a 5-place drop assembly and thought I was golden until you brought it to light that Cheetah has a memory drop assy.

I've got them all in my Tech Charts.
Look on my website http://www.inkochnito.nl
They are in both the Stern Electronics section and the Tech Charts section.

I've created two sets of cards for Cosmic Princess.
One with black cards like this one:
http://www.pinballrebel.com/pinball/cards/cards/Unused_cards/Stern_Cosmic_Princess_12B-2-128-22.jpg
But the card number much be incorrect.
This is the card number for Flight-2000.
http://www.pinballrebel.com/pinball/cards/cards/Used_cards/Stern_Flight_2000_12B-2-128-22.jpg
I adjusted this to 12B-2-111-22 which reflects the game number like it should.
Together with these cards you can use the black score cards.
http://www.pinballrebel.com/pinball/cards/Stern/Stern_score_cards_12D-3_Black.zip

The second set of cards is based on the Magic card set.
I deleted some parts about "magic", but kept the rest in place.
Cosmic Princess uses the same rom as Magic.
You can use the white score cards for this version.
http://www.pinballrebel.com/pinball/cards/Stern/Stern_score_cards_12D-2_White.zip

Please send me a PM or email to receive the pdf files.
I do not want to post the files here in case I need to change some things.
Posted here will always stay here.
On my website I can update the file when needed without keeping track of where I posted the file(s).

#5342 2 years ago

I think we need to update the file.
Together with scott we made a version 8 of this test file.
It now has the ability to clear the nvram.
Tests the Aux. Lamp Driver board too with a setting of a dipswitch.
As well as each individual lamp of the regular and the aux lamp board.
Here is a copy of the text file which goes with the rom file.
Scott has consented to share the file as it was created to be shared.
I just don't know how to update the file on Pinwiki....

**********************

scott's test rom v8

set all dip switches to OFF to clear nvram to all $00
set all dip switches to ON to clear nvram to all $ff
set dip switch #9 ON to also test aux lamp driver board on bally machines

works with 6 digit or 7 digit displays
operation description:
boots up (no led test) - if all dips on or off, clears nvram appropriately then flashes LED twice
NOTE: Until dips are moved off of all on/off, test rom reboots and clears nvram repeatedly.

date panel, 9-25-2019 version in p1
goes directly into all lamp test (as factory).
*press test switch
individual lamp test - advances through Q1-Q60 on lamp driver board, pause with s33 press
press test switch

*if dip #9 set ON:
aux lamp driver test - advances through Q1-Q32 on aux lamp driver board, pause with s33 press

*if dip #9 set OFF:
proceed directly to display test
display test - all displays show numbers 0-9
*press test switch
solenoid test tests all solenoids Q# on display
*press test switch
enhanced switch test will flash 00 player displays with no switches detected
ALL closed switches will display, giving better insight to diode/ground issues
press test switch, reboots

burn appropriate file onto either a 2716 or 2732 rom chip, put in u6 of mpu board jumpered correctly
you do not have to remove any other roms
this software is supplied AS IS and you use at your own risk.

Quoted from slochar:

I am the source of the nvram fix for the rom that I provided to Andrew it's available here:
http://tsqmadness.com/slochar/ZIP/meteora2(1).zip
This is the nvram sound fix applied to stern's factory 6 digit fix for the endless bonus bug. It clears the sound registers on bootup that were leftover from previous games' bootup.
I don't sell roms though I have just enough to do my software playtesting so you'll have to get them burned somewhere else.

I remember when I had a Galaxy game, it had the same kind of problem on boot-up.
It would keep the same tone constanly on at booting untill you play/start a game.
The game however would just keep on blinking the led untill fully booted.
I never got to fix this problem, but suspect the same kind of sound reset problem.
I used the nvram board from Andrew in this game.
