Excellent thanks for info, I do have spacers put them aside and forgot to install

#2803 4 years ago

Are classic stern manuals on line that show breakdown and call out part numbers?

Like planetary pinball has Williams & Bally.

Working on Seawitch installing new flipper kit everything is new.

Where does plastic washer in picture go?
It came in kit from pinballlife.
Guessing it goes on flipper shaft???
This is my first classic stern

Working a Stern PF swap.
Question installing carriage bolts
How do you install them?
Hammering in gently?
Other thoughts?

#2956 4 years ago

PF clear coated, was thinking of drilling top side and bottom side maybe 1/4” to slightly in large hole.

Thoughts?

#2957 4 years ago
Quoted from TheLaw:

Not sure I understand what you're asking...the only carriage bolts I can think of are on the coin door surround and 2 on side metal?

Carriage bolts are used on slings holding plastics in place. Bally games use T-nuts

#2960 4 years ago
Quoted from Completist:

I threw away those old carriage bolts and installed t-nuts and used the 6/32 bolts made for those star posts.

Was considering T-nuts

#2969 4 years ago
Quoted from dothedoo:

On my last restore I had several carriage bolts where the square holes in the wood were rounded out.
I drilled the bottom side out a little larger (not all the way through), installed 6-32 t-nuts and 2-1/2” machine screws screwed in from the bottom with a lock washer against the base of the t-nut. The excess length can be cut off, posts and plastics are still secured with a nut and washer, and the original look is retained.[quoted image]

Interesting idea, thanks for sharing

Working on classic stern.
Looking where to purchase ball return brackets.

Have they been remade or does anyone have one kicking around.

Stern backbox light panels display brackets are screwed in on backside of panel for players 1-4 but credit display is screwed on front .

Why?

Bally games are all screwed in front of light panel.

#3090 3 years ago
Quoted from slochar:

It's because stern's 7 digit display board is deeper than their 6 digit. Bally's 6 digit and 7 digit display boards are the same depth.

Good info. Never compared stern & Bally display boards side by side for size.

What are the best options for classic stern legs replacement?
Are classics Bally legs used?
Bally legs are available at PBR & pinball life

#4105 3 years ago

Is hot hand a fun game or do you get bored very quickly?
If so compared it to another Bally or stern classic.

Are they tough to sell when it’s time for a change?
