Seawitch playfields available.

I know a lot of you are doing scratch builds and Re-bodies. I wanted to sell my Seawitch playfields with an option of offering a fully populated drop in replacement, potentially with the full kit to assemble the entire machine. I’ve reached out to a few people making wire harnesses and drop targets. Often the small run production costs on these parts makes the project seem unfeasible. If there is interest, we can put together a parts list and cost it out. Maybe a bulk buy of 100 full kits would make it feasible. Anyone want to take on the shopping list as a project?

Just picked up this playfield and noted something odd. The colours are orange instead of blue?

Quoted from SR230CC:

This is a list I started for the major parts. I still need to fill out coil numbers and qty of posts and hardware.....etc.
[quoted image]

Is the 3 bank on my F2K the same as the other titles? If so, I can start with that and look into designing a replacement 3 bank. I think it would be nice to have a memory select so the rule set could be deepened, but I will have to figure out the production cost, ideally keeping a replacement assembly under $100.

Quoted from DudeRegular:

It is awesome that you guys are looking to make new target banks. However, without good replacement targets to go in them....
I would love some new drop targets for classic stern games that actually drop effectively.

Ok, so I was advised today that a new mechanism will be only one piece of the puzzle, and that the available repro drop targets themselves are not up to the task. So that will have to be another project in conjunction to the mechanisms. Is anyone working on those?

Hey all, I have an idea. Ive got a playfield with star rollovers that have broken tabs. There are ways to fix these, but I bet one of you smart guys/girls with 3D print skills could design a new sleeve that goes under the red part of the rollover, and a new star. This would be a repair part for all those broken tab rollovers. Your thoughts?

This happened today..
I was in a bit of a rush and didn’t notice my own fat finger in front of the lens. Better photos to follow. This is playfield one out of a batch of 5.

Fantastic

INTERESTED.
Are you doing just this short run, or will you do more later?

I hope to do batches of 5 at a time and will produce more as they sell.

It has been a while since I’ve had an update.
I picked up the first batch of StarGazer playfields today and they are perfect. Now that each production step has been tested, I can put another batch through.
This has been a considerable challenge because some suppliers/contractors shut down and some said they didn’t want to do it anymore (not profitable). This batch cost me significantly more money than previous batches, but I didn’t have to deal with any rejects.
I will be contacting people who previously asked for these and offering them first chance. Next batch will be prepped for printing this week.

Fantastic

Quoted from Mad_Dog_Coin_Op:

I think the color of the plastics will be fine once they are backlit. I am a little surprised we didn’t receive the rollover plastics with our orders. No big deal. They are easy to get these days. The quality looks great.

The artwork of original plastics has been scanned and sent to be digitally remastered so that correct colour matched parts can be provided.

Excellent - when will those be available? Doing the backglass also?

I had a look at the backglass art last night. I saw one of the previous reproductions next to an original glass and hated it, so I will have to do some work to ensure any new repro can pass for an original. If the quality can’t be achieved, I won’t do it. I will chase that down a bit this week.
Can someone post a photo of the backside of the repro and an original?

Hey all. The development of Big Game has been slow. I have been busy with ensuring alignment of all the cuts are as accurate as possible. I am close to cutting wood and the vectorized artwork was ready but will have to be adjusted to incorporate the realignments. The pace will pick up and I hope to have product quickly. Thanks for your patience.

Fantastic!

Hey all. I sadly have to report another setback with my playfield production. The problem I encountered will impact the wide body playfields including Big Game. The problem is that plywood, by its nature, has warps and twists in it. When fully assembled and in the machine the playfield is held flat and straight, but in the printer it can have a raised area. The playfield must be held perfectly flat during printing because the print head passes a few millimetres above the surface. If the print head strikes the surface it can cause tens of thousands dollars damage.

We already had one close call and so I built jigs to hold the playfields flat. For standard size playfields I had a metal jig made. It was very expensive. For the wide playfields I made a wooden jig and we have printed some Big Game playfields.

During another print job there was a power surge and outage that caused damage to the printer. The repair bill was $60,000 and the owner is justifiably pissed off. After that he became very protective of the printer and now he is insisting that I produce a metal jig for the large playfields like the one I have for the standard playfields. This is going to take time and money, thus more delay in Big Game production.

So that is the bad news. I will update when I have more news.

Quoted from newovad:

Why is his website a copy and paste of CPR's? I never heard how the two are connected but it even has the Custom Shop navigation on it.

Well there is some stories there. The short version of the story is that I hired a guy to make me a site and what he delivered is pretty much a cut and paste. There is no harm since there is nothing for sale on that site and a new site is being developed. Also, it is pretty fitting since CPR is a ripoff of my company that started working on playfield reproductions in 2003. Mike Purcell was my friend and helped me with my idea of making playfields and then decided to backstab me and open his own company using the processes and suppliers that I had developed. He stole from me, so I think the site rip off is great.

Check out the old and new backglass for Star Gazer. The first photo is the new color correct glass prototype and the second is the regular issue glass also by Fantastic Pinball. They are both back-lit with Comet sunlight smd 2 bulbs.
[quoted image][quoted image]

Glad you like the prototype glass. As you mentioned, I was working on a circuit to make the flames and to have the words rise up from the flames when triggered by the voltage from the original lights. So far I have been unhappy with the results.

I am working on a batch of Stargazer playfields and I noticed something odd.
The previous batches of playfields were copies of the sample playfield. The inserts matched the sample.
In the new batch I was looking at photos to make sure I got the inserts in the right spots and I noticed some variations.
OK.... here we go...

The first variation is the insert in front of the left side drop target.
In the original sample this is a 1" Orange Translucent.
The Greatwich playfield photo on the Marco site has a Yellow Opaque in that spot.
The Flyer shows a Red Opaque
Some online photos look like a Red Translucent.

Second Variation is the insert in front of the right drop target
Original sample has a Red Opaque
Greatwich had a Red Opaque
Flyer shows a Red Opaque
Some (few) online photos look like a Red Translucent.

Third Variation is the top/center of the circle in the middle of the playfield.
Original sample has purple opaque
Greatwich had purple opaque
Flyer shows Orange translucent
Most online photos look like a purple opaque (maybe?)

The first variation is the only one that is really bugging me. I did orange before, but can change for this batch if there is indication that it should be something else.
